Genre: Platformer
Description:
This is a 2D platformer based on a game called Seeds of Time Online. It's a 2D platformer with a few RPG elements (in particular, a level-up system and stats system).
Features:
- RPG elements: level-up system, stat system -- the more enemies you defeat, the more damage you deal to future enemies, and the more hits you can withstand before losing a life.
- custom level engine (download levels at the official website, or upload your own)
- power-ups hidden in each stage, can you find them all?
- 6 levels and 3 bosses, but with enough a challenge to keep you playing for a while (or so I'm told). Just like the old days.

Thanks for both permission and submitting. I will also try to look it over. Would be great though if you had time to submit the screenies as attachments instead of links. Gives a faster idea of what the game is like.

Nice game! I wouldn't say it's unique or adds something new to the platform genre, but it has a good level design and a decent difficulty that will keep you playing and entertained for a while.
Graphics are simple but clear and music is a bit monotone, but it doesn't disturb you while playing. Perfect controlling of the orbulite (mainly during jumps) is a bit hard at first, but once you are in the game you will get used to it.
I haven't seen the end of the game yet, so I can't say anything about the length, but I'm pretty sure it will take a while to find every power-up, because time is your enemy and when you try too hard to find every single secret it will run out faster than you think.
Nice thing that you can download new level packs from the homepage. That way the game won't get boring once you completed it.
Just a small criticism: It's a bit annoying that you can jump on some of the small clouds, but can't tell on which ones. You will loose lots of life if you try to find out. Would be better if the stable clouds would look slightly different than the normal ones.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
Toward the end of the first level, if you read the sign (press Enter when you're standing in front of the sign), the sign will explain that the clouds that flash yellow are solid and can be walked upon. The yellow might be a bit hard to notice.. I probably should've made it stand out a little more.

It is already like that (or at least should be).Pater Alf wrote:Just a small criticism: It's a bit annoying that you can jump on some of the small clouds, but can't tell on which ones. I don't want to come off as arguing, but the whole level-up/stat system is something that I haven't seen in any other platform game yet (aside from Super Paper Mario if that counts, but I see that game as 90% RPG and 10% platformer while this game is the other way around).Pater Alf wrote:I wouldn't say it's unique or adds something new to the platform genre

While I haven't tried your game yet, stats in platformers is hardly a new thing. Castlevania springs to mind, fx. Maybe you implemented stats in a different/cool way, and if so, more power to you.Josh1billion wrote:I don't want to come off as arguing, but the whole level-up/stat system is something that I haven't seen in any other platform game yet (aside from Super Paper Mario if that counts, but I see that game as 90% RPG and 10% platformer while this game is the other way around).

Oh sorry, my mistake then. It seems I have to take a closer look at the clouds before complaining...Josh1billion wrote:Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

You shouldn't take it as a criticism. I think it's very hard to add something completely new to the platform genre. But as said before I like your game and I felt entertained. And with thousands of platform games out there it's quite a compliment. It's not necessary to reinvent the whole genre to create nice game.Josh1billion wrote:I don't want to come off as arguing, but the whole level-up/stat system is something that I haven't seen in any other platform game yet (aside from Super Paper Mario if that counts, but I see that game as 90% RPG and 10% platformer while this game is the other way around).Pater Alf wrote:I wouldn't say it's unique or adds something new to the platform genre

It came back online, and the game is now officially released.

I like that it has RPG elements in it, with the leveling up. But it seems like it's still too much beta. There are some annoying elements like the fact that you can get hurt when jumping on enemies if they are jumping up. I also miss a save option. I get an error message when exiting. It would be a great game if there could be worked a bit more on stability, and that it's actually possible to save your progress and level.
