Rumble Box

Post by eMTe »

Rumble Box is a fast paced 3D action beat-em-up with a unique premise:
all of the characters are made of simple objects which stay around
in the level even after the character is defeated. The objects pile up,
changing the gameplay landscape and altering your combat tactics.
The game takes place inside a giant box, and the ultimate goal
of the game is to pile up enough defeated enemies to get out of the box.

Title of IGF's Innovation In Game Design competition finalist makes me shudder in fear that this is another DoG* game, but let's hope it is not.

This is not a Design over gameplay game. I was amused for a good long time and would have played it longer had my hammering on th keyboard not awoken my girlfriend from a nap. So I will return to this one later on.

Entertaining, but pretty hard to see what's going on a lot of the time. Seemed to mess a bit with my head and eyes.

Whole idea is great if you ask me, and I was entertained for a long time when I first played this.

I think it's a fun and unique game. And it would be much more fun if my computer could keep up the framerate later in the level.

Were you able to perform "grab" action? How it works? I press alt or ctrl as told, but it doesnt work. Or it does, but I'm too slow.

A fun game! I like it. Great design, nice music and the whole idea is really excellent. Unfortunately it is a bit hard to keep the overview after a while, especially when there are many of the bombhead guys in the arena.

But still a good game and certainly not anoother candidate for "design over gameplay".

@eMTe
To perform the grab action you have to get near your opponent and then press ctrl. You will then grab him and can throw him at other enemies. It isn't that hard.
