Punishment

Post by Pater Alf »

A platform game that is more a piece of art than just a simple game. The whole screen is turning all the time (so sometimes you have to play upside down), the background is flickering and the controls change sometimes (so left is right and right is left). All this things help to deceive and confuse your senses...

The graphics are very minimalistic and artificial (but that´s ok, because it´s part of the atmosphere), but the animations are very well made.

So why is this game called "Punishment"? Because when you make an mistake and miss a platform, there´s the chance that you´ll fall through all "levels" (or screens to be more precise) and have to start from the beginning again. Kind of punishment... ;)

This is indeed very addictive. And confusing beyond belief. I must say that once I got turned so my keys worked opposite, running upside down trying to hit a moving platform - I had to quit because of motionsickness.

Should be worth a look though. It looks a bit more impressing than this one. But then agian it is not entirely looks of screenies than one should rely on regarding Punishment games.

The sequel is generally considered to be worse than the first gameplay wise, because it does not work on the same mechanics (you do not get punished for your mistakes but instead must retread old ground time and time again).

Advice: find someone to massage your neck after playing.

Great fun this game for a while or two.
