CellFactor: Revolution

Post by eMTe »

/quoting wikipedia:

CellFactor: Revolution is a new sci-fi first-person shooter from Artificial Studios, Timeline Interactive and Immersion Games.

Specifically designed to show off the multiple physical effects that can be bolstered with the AGEIA card, the CellFactor demo (CellFactor: Combat Training) features barrels and boxes. They're solid, heavy, and deadly, if used in the right way. Using your character's psychic powers, you can lift and toss practically any of these small items and watch as they all interact with one another--bumping and slamming into one another and spreading across the ground. If you build up enough power, you can even force-push through a pile of debris and use that to take out enemies, called out as a "PhysX Kill" by the game.

Artificial Studios has announced that CellFactor: Combat Training will be developed into a full single-player game. However, the single-player portion was removed from the final product. After its presentation at E3, it sparked the interest of publishers, and Artificial Studios decided it was now or never to develop CF into a full title. It was released on May 8th, 2007 and made available free via the title's website.

Looks like a nice concept, but is there no actual single player function?

Am I to understand this as if they had planned a single player part and now it is cancelled or is it just not in the free package?

Aye, but we can talk about the game anyway, will we host it is a different matter, isnt it? ;)

Or should it be moved to online section?

I thin it is a tough call. It could be both places. If you think this could be validated and maybe fit into the site (-s concept) then this is the right place.
If not then I think it is for Online section...
Your call.

I think freeware ONLINE multiplayer games should be posted in online section while hotseat ones should be posted here. As for the former topic description should contain [freeware] imho to let people know that freeware games are priority here.

Cellfactor offers only LAN play and confrontation with bots on 5 levels. So it qualifies as singleplayer I think. Suits better this section atm.

If it indeed offers single player games then it does belong here. We could take Trackmania as an example... :) I must admit thought that Trackmania has a slim single player side, but still it fits the cathegory, as it does in fact appeal to people to download for the single player section of it.
I have to try this game out after talking about it so much :D

I seem to be having issues with it as well. I cant seem to get it to run properly. When I press the REALITY ICON I get to something that looks like a main menu but withouit any content. And if I go with the dedicated server icon then I get a console where I can choose maps and opponents, but it wont load them. I get the Aegia card error too or something very similar to it... I was really looking forward to playing this... (Especially after that download...)
