No-Action Jackson

Post by eMTe »

I recommend No-Action Jackson, a traditional point'n'click masterpiece with gameplay and graphics similar to Lucasarts' Day of The Tentacle. Game is full of humour (rarely seen in amateur games, usually full of crappy jokes), well-written dialogues, challenging puzzles (rarely seen too) and it's completely freeware, however as Underdogs say it could be sold with Lucasarts logo on box - this is a gem.

Hi eMTe. I realized that I had a typo in my post. I meant to say "this forum" instead of "this thread" in the locked sticky thread.

I split the thread and locked the other.

Reason being that this would be a one-thread forum otherwise... :D

But I will have someone look into it...

I don't have much time the next couple of days...

Zipped file size - about 5 Mb.

And to not spam - Quadrax's file size - nearly 5 Mb.

I'll post screenshots later this evening.

Feel free to spam. This makes it easier for me when I make the downloadspage for each game...

Developer's name is Britton O'Toole, but it seems he doesnt have a webpage. Ingame license says mysteriously: "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. USE SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.", but game is considered as freeware on every site, so I think we don't risk much.

Since Underdogs is down currently, I cannot access the game. If you have it please let me know so I can upload it.
I will add the game later and make the page now.
Info added to Downloadspage.

The game license says use freely, and you are free to distribute...

I have a question. I got stuck when trying to drive the cat into the kitchen, but it always turns around at the kitchen door... As if the door should be open... What am I missing here. I consulted a walkthrough, but nothing...

Don't know if you are interested in a solution any more (question is more than 2 month old) but I will answer anyway:

To drive the cat into the kittchen you have to use the wedge (you can find it inside the sport center) with the kittchen door. Doing this the door will remain open and the cat will walk inside.

Ah. I am always interested in getting things solved. Thanks a lot. IT seems we are both a couple of nightowls tonight...

It annoyed me for a while that I couldn't get the game finished, but I look forward to trying this out...

I will say that this game is surely a great game, with lots of fun and lots of good riddles, puns, graphics, persons, storylines and most of all humour and not the crappy kind.
Definently a must-play!

This could very well have been made by the team behind games as Day of the tentacle or Maniac Mansion.
If you get stuck, there are plenty of walkthroughs out there, and I am considering right now if I should make one for CWF... Remind me in february :D

Great Lucasarts-style game with hard puzzles and loads of humour (some dialogues could have been used in classic LA titles). Up to this day still one of the most professionally made freeware adventures. I still wonder why it didnt become commercial product.
