Cliffall

Post by Pater Alf »

A tritute game to "Pitfall II - The Lost Caverns" in wonderful retro style.

Developer's description:

"You're Larry, who while visiting an indian tribe in the Amazon, has come to ask the Chief's daughter in marriage. It was a daring wish, all the tribe thought! And so the Chief decided to throw a challenge. He said: Larry, if you prove to me that you are a brave man for the love of my daughter, you shall have my blessing. Your challenge is: To bring the 3 super treasures that are within the dangerous caves inside the great mountain near our land. Larry accepted the challenge, but the tribe thought he would be a dead man. And so you set out bravely to venture and conquer honor and happiness!

Have fun jumping from high Cliffs, climbing trees and swinging on vines "Tarzan style". But watch out for the many animals within the island: Their bites and stings will hurt, but you can heal your injuries by eating the fruits of the forest!

The game features atmospheric and nature sound effects! Your main goal will be to find the legendary "Great Mayan Diamond" hid there by an ancient tribe. You'll also need to find the lost Ruby ring and the Golden Falcon statue, in order to gain the blessing of the Chief and marry "Akeena". You'll also earn points by collecting money bags, gold bars and precious gems!" (taken from the official homepage)

The game more or less plays like the original game with all its strengths and flaws. Strengths are the beautiful retro graphics, the level design and the soundtrack, flaws are the controlling (sometimes you are stuck for a moment) and the fact that you loose energy from time to time when you enter a new screen and get hit by an enemy you can't foresee.

No, but he read the question in this thread and wrote me a mail which says we are free to host it...

Did you play the game? It really has a wonderful retro atmosphere and playing it feels like playing the good old "Pitfall" again.

This is a retro-pearl. I am not doubting that I will return to this and play more.
Recommended. Retro with smooth gameplay, and a great soundtrack.

A good game that has lots of atmosphere despite the low resolution.

A perfect retro game with a lot of atmosphere, great level design and an excellent soundtrack. If you ever played and enjoyed "Pitfall II", there's no doubt that you will like "Cliffall" as well.

There are some bugs (in some places you can fall/jump through walls), but the overall game experience is simply great!

Iliked the underwater level a lot. That was very relaxing.
