Westbang

Post by Pater Alf »

"Westbang" is a remake of the classic C64, ZX-Spectrum arcade game "Westbank". Not as good as the original (which I liked to play in the arcarde hall), but still a nice game to spend a couple of minutes.

"In the game you will get:

* Animated movie like introduction.
* 25 missions with the story of a noname man who became a legend. Try your skills in campaign, from an easy beginning to a total carnage in final fight for 500 000$, that the biggest railway company stored in the bank for the wages for their workmen.
* Meet over 20 characters and see if you can face hordes of cheap street roughnecks or lone but damn quick profi killers.
* Watch the smashing intro that will remind you the atmosphere of an old western movies and listen to a cool music score.

As a special bonus you will get:

* Secret level made for a men who have a little bit cruel sense of humour ;-)
* Cheats..
* Full description of data files, that will help you to modify everything in the game or add as many levels as you wish, if you find our campaign too short or easy for you."

Well, theyre white where they should be black. Official screenies are black where your ones are white. That's why I'm suspicious. :P

Funny. They look completely normal on this computer (at work). No white at all... :wondering:

They seem to look that way on Firefox for some reason. Looks pretty normal in IE.

Yep! I used Firefox 3 for a short time, but it was buggy and several things didn't work the way they should. So I returned to Firefox 2. But I will see if I can take some new screenshots. I think I took these with my old screenshot tool and there was this kind of problem sometimes.

A great game with much replayability. I remember playing the original back in the day. I think this stayed pretty true to the gameplay, and it felt good to dig into again.
A regular gem of a remake. Go play!

I still think it's not as good as the original game (there were some nice features in it like shooting down hats or shooting money bags) and it really could use some cool music, but it's still good enough to play it once in a while and feel entertained while doing so.
