SPORE

Well I just read about this new gem from Will Wright...

You get to shape you own species and follow it through evolution, with a universe of 400.000 star systems I think it was. You follow it from being a non-verbal predator or carnivore to full on space flight evolution and taking over other planets.

Have you heard of it?

And what is your judgement.
I will provide screenshots soon.

The real questions I have are these:

1. I heard it might be a online game (improves the 'gene' pool I imagine)

2. How much freedom are we going to have with this evolution - if I wished to create a race of triple-breasted 8 foot tall armour plated bikini clad zombie physco killer chicks, can I?

Actually it starts out as a offline game, and then when you transscend into an intergalactic species you go online...

As far as I have read, you can mold the figure into whatever shape you want, and its personality is up to you. You can decide wether it thrives in hydrogen-filled grasslands, or nitrogen filled ice-deserts, or ...
And you can also decide if it is carnivorous or herbi and such things. It looks like it is pretty big, and with lots of opportunities to mold your species into whatever you like.

Unfortunately this game is being pushed onwards and onwards further away from a release date. It has been postponed more than once now, and the latest news is "sometime in 2008".
It is however gonna be released on several consoles including the DS.
It seems that it will be amazing still, but I am not sure how I like the whole online part of it. I prefer offline games.

Ultimately disappointing unless you're in love with creation. A series of mini games have never made for an overall good game, and this game doesn't change that fact.
