Soldat

Post by Chroelle »

Recommended by Moshboy originally in multiple gamesubmissions thread.

Fast-paced shooter.
Comes greatly recommended, and with lots of action and guns. Please play this is generally the message, so I will.

License: Seems to be freeware (but there is talk of a pay-for version which gives more gaming or something...)

Year: ?
Developer: Michal Marcinkowski (http://www.soldat.pl/contact.html)
Download and official site: http://www.soldat.pl/main.php

Was rated a wooping 9.8 at gamespot!

This game is a hit for many years afaik as it is usually mentioned as one of gamers' favourites. The problem is that I always thought that the game is a)shareware, b)multiplayer only, c)online only which means it breaks three CWF fundamental rules. I could have missed something though.

well, technically, it's possible to play it single-player against bots, but I agree, this is like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. (except it's shareware and quite smaller).

I am considering if we should think of this as freeware or shareware...

If you can play DECENT NUMBER of missions against bots I think we can consider it semi-freeware... Alien Arena is also played against bots, yet we host it.

You can.

Soldat is propably one of the more wellknown games played on the net, but it also has a lot of charm. It resembles Counter Strike so much that it was sure to get an audience!
Soldat is a small-scale version arena shooters, where you simply have to get as many frags as possible. It would be nice to have it just a little more zoomed in, but all in all it plays great. Fastpaced - shooting frenzy with lots of options regarding guns and grenades... It really is a game for adrenaline junkies!
