Thanks for inviting me here. I promise I will come in a frequent basis, check and read, and maybe from time to time, do my very best effort to put some actually intelligent comment in a hidden place of the forum [no need to make the society aware about my neuronal capacity ( ) ]
In short, won't like to break the contact (Specially now that for me, time may start to come in larger ammounts). See you around (even in the web design part, I'm interested on that. Never know what you can learn).
Now, a glass of water please, to go. Need to leave to work on my thesis. I will put some avatar when I get back to my place.
Driving test? that sounds good. You must share with the international community what kind of test are you required to properly drive in Denmark
Well...For starters: Welcome Oscar. It has been so long and I was glad to see you were still among us. Long and intelligent posts have a tendency to follow you around
Well for driving in Denmark you have to take driving lessons and theory lessons.
I can't remember the exact number but something like 20 moduls of theory and about the same with driving. Theorytest comes first and is a multiple choice test with 25 pictures with 4 different sub-questions so all in all 100 questions. You can have 5 errors, but if you have two errors on the same picture they count as one, being that some of them are total opposits. Like
1: would you drive
2: would you break
If you answer yes to one then you will ofcourse answer no to the other.
You have to do a maneuvre-course to get the license and a driving-course where you learn to drive in slippery weather and bad conditions.
I haven't tried that one yet, but I will on the 10th.
I have tried the maneuvre-course, and that was my first real experince behind the wheel so it was fun.
You finish of with taking a driving test with a "motor-official"... Then if he/she thinks you did ok, then you pass.
I think that is pretty much it. Is it different in other countries?

Welcome to heaven or hell oscarcg it really depends on how the owner feels to if we are in heaven or hell. At the moment we are stuck in between.
Good luck for tuesday Chroelle, even though I have said it before it doesn't hurt to say it again. I have found out that it is my parents silver wedding aniversary on tuesday so it must be a good day, hopefully it will be for you too
And I will drink to the first real rule of the Marketplace Bar. It wouldn't seem all that heaven/hellish if there wasn't rules to abide or break.
EDIT: I totally forgot....
[glow=red]CONGRATS TO CIELLO. The skyboy.[/glow]
Thanks a lot... quiet day offline... I've more or less stopped celebrating my birthdays... I'm definately not pleased with the fact that 30 is nearer than 20
Well, I got a litte celebration to drink to myself- an old friend I haven't seen in a long time is coming up to see me today. He'll be here in about a half hour, so this is pretty exciting.
Drinks on me everyone!

Marklin has a presence here in the US, but it is a niche field. I have a few pieces of it myself, and used to hand build European models (Got out of it because it was too difficult to build chassis that worked). There is a hobby shop in the town where my parents live that carries a lot of European toys and is an authorized Marklin dealer. Very expensive, though.
Funny, though, Marklin couplers, I find, are compatible with early American 'Mantua' style couplers used until the 1950s. I have a number of heritage cars from the 1940s equiped as such, and can couple to Euro cars.
@Chillum: Just haven't gotten to it yet. Been pretty busy, and want to take a certain picture on my railway, but an getting the scene right first. You'll see...

Well Märklin has always been known to be expensive - but quality - in Denmark.
My brother in law is VERY interested in these things too, so I talk with him about it form time to time. The biggest I have gone myself is a 4m x 2,5m wooden plate with 4 trains and lots of accesories. EM and my dad built it together...
Well....I was allowed to paint the roads for my traintrack...Well at least paint between the lines he had drawn...
With a small brush
But I could steer the trains! And that was definently the most fun part of it. At least I thought back then. Now I feel more that the building of the Ry-model would be the most fun.

Marklin is real quality, that's for sure. Often they make their trains out of solid metal, something that hasn't been done in the US since the 1950s (I have a few such cars, and they command high prices too).
Acutally, for roadways and other paved surfaces on my railway, I use dark gray sandpaper, it has both the look and the texture, so I can take my fingertop and run it along the paths to simulate where years of vehicle tires have been driving. If you look at roads, you can see ligher streaks going down it from car wheels.
Like my new avatar? It's a rare 1960s engine I have. The factory forgot to stamp the railroad name on the engine hood on the left side of the engine (The side that's shown). It's at the end of a branch line which I have been detailing with a small crew shack and making look like its in disrepair with weeds and junk parts all around. Picture didn't turn out too great, but the area looks fantastic in real life.

Railwaymodeler, I wanted to ask you for it some time ago, but I totally forgot. Are you also a trainspotter by any chance? Or maybe you know some REAL trainspotters?
"As you have noticed over the years, we are not angry people." (itebygur)
Yes, actually, but there in the US, we call ourselves 'railfans' and the hobby is 'railfanning'. The hobby isn't as active as it used to be- after the 9/11 attacks, railroads tightened security quite a bit, to the point that the Kansas City Southern Railway, for a while at least, was arresting anyone who took pictures of their equipment (Railroads have their own internal police force).
Now, it seems to be un the upswing again, at least here in Illinois. There's some nice parks built by busy rail junctions as designated railfan parks, so that we can take all the photos we want without risking life, limb, or arrest. And they usually throw in some old rail artifacts, maybe an old caboose, or a retired engine or something.
Myself, though, knowing some of the heads at the railroads, I get to go to the train yard a lot, which nowadays, is a place many railfans can't go, and will be arrested on the spot if seen with a camera. The other railfans look at me with envy out there.
And now a flood of memories come back at this point- as a teenager, spending my whole saturday at the West Lake Forest train station watching the Canadian Pacific freights (They bought the ex-Milwaukee line thrrough here to gain access to Chicago) and the Metra commuter trains come through, writing down engine numbers and types in a spiral notebook I was supposed to use for my classes. Hmmm, left side was used for notes, right side for engines. Stationmaster knew me quite well, it was just not the same after he retired, then a short while after he did, I stopped going there. So many memories...

Only four posts in bar yesterday - the self-evident sign that Dizi was offline for whole Monday...
And no, it's not one of these subtle jokes about spammers...
Thx for explanation, railwaymodeler. Actually I asked you about it cause Ive watched recently "The Station Agent" (good film btw) and the first person who I could ask more about trainspotting/railfanning that came to my mind was you.

To my experience, always taking a left turn, gets me out of mazes 90 % of the time. (But if you start in the middle of a maze, this usually does not work.) Well, anyway, I would like to have a whiskey and a beer. Since I´m still kind of ill, I need something to clean up the system.
No matter how good you are at something, there's always about a million people better than you.
I am so happy as a game I ordered of Amazon has just came today Its Ankh and from trailers and the review it looked and sounded really good. Now I just have to finish longest journey.
I see eMTe hasn't gotten back yet...well I better send someone down to give hime some food. Anyone want to do that?
ohh I'm sorry that you still feel ill espenso84 I won't force...I mean ask you to go down and give this food to eMTe.
I just wanted to fill people in on how my theory test went today........
Excited?
Come on you wanna know.....
Okay, don't leave I was just making fun........
I passed. I had 1 flaw. Which as I posted in The Dansih bar is always nice being told.
Congratulations you only hav one flaw.
