edit: the Frozen Bubble game Chillum-san posted about in Freeware Games section is very close to the Bust-a-Move I'm talking about. Not being a great fan of penguins myself, I prefer Chinkle-chan as a game character, though. ^^;
So far, the Puzzle Bobble collection aka Bust-a-Move collection is the best. No other clones that I played can beat this in terms of those special properties bubbles. In addition, there is nice music & background, level editor, 2 player VS etc. The next best is Puzzle de Pon collection. This has some special properties quite different from Puzzle Bobble collection. All other clones can be cute and playable but they lack the interesting special properties and replayable fun.

I owned the 2 mentioned collections and had lots of fun with them long ago. In one way you could say that I finished the game but in another way I did not finish. There are so many routes to take and different endings to take and I had only seen 2 endings. In terms of special properties, Bust-a-Move 3DX & Bust-a Move 4 has the most. However, in terms of nice backgrounds, Bust-a-Move 2 & Bust-a-Move 4 are good. My favourites are still Bust-a-Move 2 & 4.

Pitkin, have fun with Bust-a-Move 3DX. :) If you haven't played Bust-a-Move 4, you must definitely try it one of these days.

For now, I decided to take a break with PC games. I played so many halfway that I'm finding it hard to decide which one to continue.

Aye, JKSM-san, I've also played the other games from the BAM series, and some other clones. I first bumped into the series with Puzzle Bobble many years ago when I was looking for Bubble Bobble games... loved the game very much, but since it was only a shareware (I think), I didn't get around playing it after completing the few levels it consisted of.

Bust-a-Move 4 I've also played, but found it absolutely terrible personally. The characters were dreadful (I hate you, you stupid totem pole and you prince of underwater, whoever you are!) compared to BAM 3DX (I only play with Chinkle-chan, but she's the cutest ^^; ), and I found the graphics pretty annoying to my eyes as well. I admit I would've played it a lot more than I eventually did, however, if the bloody game had run a bit better on my comp; for some unexplainable reason, the game seemed to consider my computer not powerful enough to run it properly. -_- Negative experience, on all fronts. v_v

Yeah, some characters can be annoying. However, I was more interested in gameplay rather than characters so they didn't bother me. Previously, had played those games on Win 95 Pentium I. Haven't experimented on a Win XP. Anyway, if you really have problems, can always use a MAME version instead. My favourite is still looking at the background scenary from Bust-a-Move 2 and listerning the music from the CD-ROM of that game.

Hehe, I like the music in the game very much as well, but never paid much attention to the backgrounds. MAME version could indeed solve the 'hardware problems' I had... maybe I'll try that out when I get to sit at my own computer the next time. That'll be in two weeks from now. ^^;

Oh, and about the characters... well, when I saw BAM3DX at a store back in time having not played it yet, after glancing through the back cover I had reached the conclusion Chinkle-chan would be my character in the game. Sort of decided that even before installing the game itself. Chinkle-chan's so energetic. ^_^ :D

edit: Slave... I'm a slave now... I hope master's a kind person. v_v

Decided to split the topic, since it was getting to be a lot about bust a move.

BOW BEFORE BUB! YOU OWE HIM AWE!!!

Anywho, I love the Bust-a-move-series, have one (3DX I think) on my Nintendo 64. And it's one of the two games I've managed to get my gf
interested in (The other is Bejeweled).

2-player Bust-a-move owns ^_^
