It isn't too far from the truth, but we found a great schedule that really works for us.
Since the midwife advised us against sharing the nightly duties, we made another way instead of: Mom breastfeed, Dad changes diapers, and next morning both is tired. We made: Mom breatfeeds and changes diapers during the night (but if she is too tired dad helps) and at around 5-6 in the morning dad gets up and takes care fo the baby until baby needs breastfeeding again around 10 if we plan it right, and then after that Tanja can once more go to sleep. But that also means that we are awake at different times, and hence has Anna all to ourselves for at least 4-5 hours.
And we are both fit for fight until 10-11 the next evening where we fall asleep at will.
But it is hard for grandparents to share. They are haning on to the kiddo and forgetting their manners. It can be rather fun to watch. the other day Tanjas mom wouldn't let my mothers husband hold her. That is..she pretended not to notice him aksing and stretching out his arms. Also other grandparents have been known to just sit there and fidget around until finally one of us ask the question...: "Do you want to hold her" and they look like somebody just told them that the nasty lump in the head isn't a tumor, but simply something very innocent. Relief beyond all belief.

Grandparents are a study in themselves. Being told that they cannot just come by unannounced and call us up whenever they feel like it, but have to text-message us and such really kills them. They try to find all sorts of excuses to look by. "I was just in the neighbourhood..." Well of course you were...you live here....! Stuff like that.

Well, the grandparents are just curious I guess? Especially if it's their first grand-child....

I'm sure they'll leave you a bit more alone by time...

It is the first girl grandchild, but Tanjas parents got a grandson age 6½ and my parents have a grandson age 1.

So we bring the first girl into both families.

I'm going to the teathre tonight.. I've only tried that one time before (Except lousy school teathres ect.), when I saw "The Phantom of the Opera"... Today I'm going to see "The Beauty and the Beast"... Have anyone seen the show?

Nope, my entire repertoire consists of Phantom and Les Miz (all right, all right, Les Miserables). Well, short of some forced tours during school, that is.

That was an AMAZING show!! I really loved it, and it was WAY better than I thought it would be... I should go more to the teathre

I got a little touched sometimes, and especially when the beast got the beauty :') Hehe...

I recommend it!

Went to see Beauty and the beast last year and was blown away. Great play! And it had a danish singer in the lead, and she was simply mindblowingly good.
I love going to the theatre, and so far some of my best shows were "Jesus Christ Superstar" set in Østre Gasværk, "Cats" in London, and of course "West side story" with me in the credits

Musical shows are not my pair of shoes. The only one I really liked was "The Rocky Horror Show". But when I was younger I used to go to the theatre very often (I had free entry because I did some work for them). I loved the classical stuff like plays Shakespeare, Goethe, Schiller as well as the plays from Dürrenmatt, Brecht and modern (political) theatre. Writing this I realize how much I miss this...

And now to something completely different: I decided to quit my job today and so the last day of my old job will be the 30th of june. At the moment I´m quite happy with my decision but at the same time I feel like shit because I have to leave all the kids behind...

So I think I need lots of beer to get some sleep tonight.

P.S.: Welcome back Shadowlord! It´s nice to see you again. And don´t forget to visit the german corner. Tank, Usul and myself are feeling a bit lonely there.

Thank you! In fact I wasn´t happy with my job for a while now or be be more precise with most of the collegues (age 50+) and their oppinion how you should educate physically and mentally handicapped children. So it might be a good idea to start something new...

I don't remember the name of the girl who played the Beauty when I saw it.. But damn, she was a good actor, and singer! And she was BEAUTYful too

The only actor I knew, was Henrik Lykkegaard (Him from the "Kohberg" commercials - "Hva' skal jeg sige?").. He played the candle stick, and WOW, he was great! He was also the one who got the biggest applaus, when the show was done

Those are the tough decisions PA. But I am sure you did right thing by quitting. If you feel you do not like your job (or co-qorkers) any more, and if it only gets worse during the time, then switching job is really the only option. Eventually one must quit such a job anyways. Reason is that in such conditions one suffers. He loses the joy of working, and work becomes a HEAVY burden... That would have been seen in the way you do your work in the future... And that would not have been good for the kiddos either :/ Straight talk I know, but hey, sometimes even I can be straight

I agree with Maz. I have changed two jobs for the reasons Maz said and now I found my dream job (well almost, the pay could be higher , but what the heck, we can't have everything!

Thank you for your friendly words and your support. I´m pretty sure you are right and quitting the job was the only option left (I thought about it for some time now). So after having a good sleep I´m feeling much better today.

I have no doubt that I will find a new job soon (at least I have three months to search). In Germany more than 90% of the jobs in educational system are still done by women, so most institutions are happy if a man applies for a job.

Good for you PA! I truelly backup your decision. Remember that you spend a very big part of your life at work, so it is important that you thrive their.

Well being a guy in the same line of work, I can only tell you that I am actually the most wanted demographic in the Danish employment-market. A year ago there was a study to determine which guys was the smartest in the country and there were I think 10 different ways of pinpointing, and I only missed out on the footballteam I supported. Damn FCN fans...!
I am between 26-30, wear glasses, read alot, use the internet daily...etc.

Also there was a study saying that the guys who plyed computers alot while growing up has given them an assett that others dont have. They are very much more evolved in their strategic thinking and a lot of them think better on their feet too (meaning that they can make quick decisions). I too belong to this group.

And like PA I am a guy in a line of work mostly occupied by women, which makes me so darn attractive to an employer that I actually get a bonus for being a young male.

@Chillum: Maria Lucia? She was Belle when I saw it, and it was Henrik Lykkegaard too when I went. He is hysterical!
