Savage: The Battle for Newerth

Post by Eric »

"Choose to be a commander and you will play an in-depth RTS managing the stronghold, or choose to be a warrior and you will play an intense game of first person combat. With the creation of a new game play genre, RTSS (Real Time Strategy Shooter), Savage expertly redefines the first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres by combining elements of both into one cohesive experience. As the commander in RTS mode, you will tackle resource management, develop a robust tech tree, plan your assault and lead real human players into battle. As a warrior in action mode, you will master many unique weapons, powerful units, and siege vehicles to fight a fast paced battle.

Set in a unique fantasy world eons from now where Humans and Beasts battle violently for their very existence. Savage transports PC gamers to the next level in multi-player gaming. Choose to fight on the side of HUMANITY, armed with science and technology, or take the side of the BEAST HORDE, masters of nature and magic. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory. Which side are you on? "

Wow, that's really a cool game with great graphics and a very atmospheric soundtrack. I will definitely give a high vote for this one.

But it seems to be only a multiplayer online game. Or did I miss the single player mode? I'm not sure about it, but I think Chroelle said sometimes ago that we won't host pure multiplayer online games (would be a shame because this one really is great)...

Well I think that we would be overburdened with MMORPGs with a huge filesize. I do agree however that it is a great game. I tried it some time ago.

I tried this out, and man is this actionpacked. Not fastpaced as so many others but fast enough!
The gameplay is really well done. You can act as both a servant and a warrior if you choose not to become the commander.
The commander will set up building sites which you and some others must construct the buildings in, by attacking them...Yes... think outside the box.
The commander will also have the view of the map and the situation so he can tell you where to go and what to do if you feel you want to help but dont know how. So as a newbie - listen to your commander! This will help you out.
The battles are actionpacked and hardfought, and most of them time you will die, but should you succeed to win a battle your side will come out richer since you can collect all sorts of ressources - also from dead enemies - and that will help you build and research even better weapons.
You go from bow and arrow to laserguns pretty fast, so evolution is on the move here!

I really hope that there will be a game at some point with singleplayer campaigns with this sort of gameplay!
