I need a good business sim

Post by Chroelle »

I'm feeling like getting a good business sim. I have a few criteria, please tell me if you have something that has any of these features...

I need a visual landscape, where I can see the growth of my company
I need a gameplay that is fun, but not goofy-fun.
I need the possibility to expand and/or buy out others.
I need an OK AI, but I don't wan't to need a business degree to figure it out.
I need something that does't evolve around traffic of some sort. Some traffic is ok, but no transport tycoons, traffic tycoons, and none of the above titles either with a giant or a deluxe follow up name.
If you know of it as a freeware game, then it would be great, but if you know a game that is still on the shelves or available to purchase online let me know.
This needs to be an OFFLINE game (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it here)

BTW: Considered making this a general Game-wish thread, but I think that might make discussions a bit fuzzy and hard to keep focus on...

Basically Chroelle, the game you're describing here is Trevor Chan's Capitalism 2:

http://pc.ign.com/articles/167/167372p1.html

http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/t ... italism-ii

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/cap ... eview.html

http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=search&s ... age=search

To my knowledge this is the best and most comprehensive business sim available. Lots of freedom, many many markets...

It can seem little dry due to bland graphics but can be very addictive, I've lost nights to it myself. And going for cheap now too. GET THIS Chroelle, you won't regret it.

Funny enough I talked to one of my friends about this yesterday, and he brought this game for me today. I haven't tried it yet, but it came with giant recommandations. :D

So if you don't hear from me in the next week, then I am propably totally observed in this game.

I know this one desn't match your qualifications, butit's a good business sim nonetheless and it's free and you can find at oldgames

Just search for MacroEconomics

I know that one too. As you said yourself - it doesn't match my criterias, but thanks anyway.

I'm playing Capitalism 2 now, and it seems to have the feel of a lot of the other tycoon games. There are still some things I don't get, but I will eventually :D

Does anybody know a business sim, where you control the headquarters only, and maybe even have the ability to build out on the HQ on a map? With stuff like R&D sections and such.

Maybe 'Zeppelin - Giants of the sky' is a game for you.
It doesn't fulfill all your criteria, but it can be fun for 15-20 hours.
It's quite hard at the beginning so you'll have to restart your career a few times.

No landscape unfortunately.

Gameplay is precise and fun

No expansion but you can build up a flying company and organize the schedules and prices etc. Technology is also on the point for developping bigger and faster zeppelins...

Hard at the beginnig but if you figure out how to start you'll be just in the game.

No Traffic at all! No Tycoon or Deluxe neither ;)

Here's the link:

If you prefer a business-sim based on cars, I'd mention 'Detroit'
