The Oracle

Post by eMTe »

What are friends for? That's precisely why you decide to help out a friend
who's in way over his head. But you never expected this...

Your friend Alex goes missing, a trail of notes and clues left behind,
pointing to his possible whereabouts. All the while, you uncover an artifact so
powerful you wish you had never laid eyes on it, and you learn of an ancient
order of monks with ties to it. And the key to all three lies in -- the Oracle.

Very different from other attempts. To check.

It was worth playing, though I was annoyed with some of the glitches. I was a bit irritated by the fact that you would talk to backgrounds instead of characters, and also that the hotspots for talking to characters didn't work properly. Sometimes you could "look" at "talk to character". Weird thing that.

But I would recommend point and click adveture fans to play this at some point. I like how he did it. It bares some idea that the developer took a trip to Portugal and used the photos for this game. However I keep wondering if he got the idea after returning or before leaving...

For the most part, this not so challenging adventure rumbles along fine, with you exploring nice vacation photos. However, when you, for the thirtieth time, are told "Trust me, you don't wanna look at the talk to pharmacist", you start getting a bit miffed. That rates as one of the most annoying bugs ever...

Anyway, it's a fun little daydream, if very impersonal and disattached. Atmosphere is mostly held together by dreamy, feel good music. Hint system is nice, especially the cascading ones used here. Though when I finally did need a hint, the one I got made no sense. Figures.

Sometime at (on?) late October or early November of 2022 I've finished the game. No use of walkthroughs.

Decent take on Lost in Time aesthetics and gameplay.
