Love for detail is a rare thing nowadays. Yesterday Ive been watching Studio Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart (not for the first time as I love this movie) and I noticed how picturesque the backgrounds are. There's one shot showing the city crossroads. Corner of the house on the right, corner of the shop on the left etc. To the left of one of the street is a tall wall, disappearing in the distance, because the street runs downwards. And towards the end of the visible part of the wall there's a niche (or maybe an alley) and we can see that one wall of that niche/alley throws a shadow on the opposite one. Nothing special one could say, but I think it adds much to the overall experience, because you feel that the movie wasn't made only to generate income and they left small touches here and there for those who like them. 8)

Anyone else notice the subtle irony of a Linksys router? I mean, those things generally were crap!

Ah yes, the WRT54G... chokes with too many connections, because hey, what's the core function of a router anyway?

I'm not convinced that you'll catch all nuances, but let's try. The recent YouTube hit in Poland.

Well, thanks to Qwerty keyboards, U and I are actually together. The old silly pickup line goes "I wish I could rearrange the alphabet and put U and I together."

Now the shoot-down response could be, "You just made me switch to Dvorak keyboard."
Ever notice this?

EDIT: Just checked the Dvorak layout again. Apparently, it, too, has the letters U and I next to each other! Subliminal geek messages!

Now the shoot-down line could be "You just made me want to contact an ex that is a computer programmer. I need him to remap my key layout."

What's really interesting for me in this prank is that I would probably also get fooled, but I wouldnt be at all interested in approaching the guy. I guess crowd psychology doesnt work for some people.

As we wandered into WW2 in another thread, I remembered this surprisingly accurate history of Finland from the beginning of time to today as told by Microsoft Paint.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

No idea if they've been done, but similar stuff on various other topics can be found at the Polandball reddit.

Not all of you are interested in football, but when you read what happened in Warsaw just two hours ago...well, I wonder why they didn't think of the simple solution:
