Crayon Physics

Post by eMTe »

Game made in under a week.

You play with crayons and physics. The goal of the game is to move the red ball so that it collects the stars. You can cause the red ball to move by drawing physical objects.

With left mouse button you can draw and with right you can remove objects.

The game uses Erin Catto’s Box2D physics engine.

Developer: Kloonigames (Petri Purho)

Music: _ghost

Holy bitching crap, that's a hard game! I'm note sure it's not more frustrating than it's fun...

Only 7 levels in original game. Pity.

Editor and more levels are coming (read SOMEWHERE about this), so let's hope this is only beginning.

Wow!!! I'm totally in love with this game! The gameplay, the unique concept, the graphics (including the backgrounds), the wonderful music. And there are so many different ways to solve every level...

It's such a pity that there are only seven different levels. It took me less then an hour to complete them (but I will play again). Please give me more of this!!!

I tried to use editor, but it doesnt work too well and is buggy.

Hope there will be more stable version in future (it is fanmade).

Btw, further development of CP is halted. Only good editor can save this game from falling into oblivion. (and releasing source code for public)

It seems there is still hope for an extended version of the game. At least there is an entry called "Crayon Physics Deluxe" at the Independant Games Festival 2008 Competition (including a new screenshot):

If you look on his blog it contains more information regarding this, although he doesn't state whether it will still be freeware or not. My guess is it will be though.

There are 8 new levels to download (but I don't think they are made by the developer of the game himself):

There's also an official homepage for "Crayon Physics Deluxe" now (including some new screenshots and a gameplay video):

Crayon Physics has been added to CWF's database. You can download the game as well as a levelpack (including four new levels) from our game info page:

Deluxe version is now officially free. You can obtain one of the many existing copies here.

For explanations, visit Indiegames and watch the first video (from Assembly 2011).

Well, a rather unusual way for a developer to give it away. I've bought the game anyway :)

Edit: that was actually a really interesting presentation.
