Hi guys, am looking for multiplayer turnbased games similar to Fallout / X-Com that are hotseat or LAN. Just wondering if there are any people here could recommend?
I have:
Laser Squad Nemesis (not really free, is shareware and crippled free version)
UFO2000 (remake of UFO/XCom for multiplayer. Great but still beta and on hold)
Any none freeware games would be interesting too, I know of Fallout Tactics, which is unfortunately fatally flawed despite being oh so close to being great.
For my rant on the subject, see
here...
Cheers!

I am not sure what you're looking for, but I believe that you might just like The Battle For Wesnoth (which is also downloadable from here), although theme in there is completely different. (Fantacy genre). http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/game_info.php?gameid=6
My obsession network related programs and protocols has created these:
epb - Ethernet Packet generator (and more)
nsn - Network status monitoring tool for linux
thongs-sniffer - network sniffing and traffic analyzing tool + ethernet packet crafter for linux (derived from nibbles)
nibbles - UDP print listener + something else
Foreverlasting projects:

Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games (from Sir-Tech, of legends past) had LAN multiplayer, and is very similar to XCOM, only with oodles more personality. There were options for both cooperative and competitive multiplayer. Should you not already know the Jagged Alliance series (surely you must!), you need to find it now!
Not freeware I'm afraid.
