What do you use to make avatars...? I was thinking I would try and do something with it too. But please continue your good work. I will set that ad to show too in our PW-ads.
Please look into a skyscrapersized thing if you can, and want to. There is a lot of spaces for those where the price is still very low.
I found alot of good avertising spots tonight. All below 0.03$/day so I hope to see more visitors soon.
I plan to try and make something too myself, but I think we might need some serious help from whoever can.
Also I am thinking about asking one of the developers if they would try and make a banner for us... The more banners the better. One single banner-ad wears out the effect and people stop clicking it...

Well I use GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) for everything graphical that I do on computer...even modifying pictures and stuff...sometimes it's a little vague in the instructions but once you get the hange of it, it's not so bad.

GIMP For Windows Home Page

Make sure if you download GIMP, you also grab GTK, which you'll need to run it.

Well... Dammit. I tried using GIMP before but never got the hang of it. Could you maybe make a tutorial on how to make banner-ads in GIMP? That would be cool.
That way I could really start learning it. Yeah yeah I know it was kind of a shortcut to learning, but I really dont have the time to sit down and study a program, even if it does benefit the site in the end. If you could make an easy walkthrough, then everybody could learn from it, and make banner-ads. I am thinking about getting some other people to do some other tutorials of how they do some other stuff... I think the ones implied know what I am talking about... :D

:goodjob: !
That would be great. I really do hope that I can learn how to use GIMP. I never played around with animation or graphics as such, so I am hopeful. Let me know if you need anything!

Actually GIMP is one of most user friendly tool I used... Never had enough time to play with it longer though.

The idea with CWF crashing the little stickman... Very Monty Pythonish in spirit. :D

Pager - I just tried outting the file up as an ad, and was told that I coul not place anything above 100kb...The file is 122kb. Is there any chance you can get it that low? Otherwise we should maybe try and make it longer so it will fit a skyscraper box

I didnt know before just then... Sorry to not have informed you.
If anybody feels the need to do even more banners I would be happy. It is nice to have some to choose from, so that people dont get used to one specific ad and just stop noticing it...

Sounds like you haven't used too many tools :?. I personally use Paint Shop Pro for picture manipulation. It's easy to use, logical and has those features, that I need. The problem is that the older versions are not supported anymore (I guess) and they don't have all the fancy elements. The newer versions are huge, slow and needs several minutes of loading before getting started.

I might send a banner here later if I find the time and come up with some good idea.

Go ahead. Others can give ideas too. All suggestions are welcome, but I will not make any animations.

In general we could do stuff about the chars from some of the games. I was thinking of using Cedric and his sidekick to do one. Something like:
Victor: CWF, your shotcut to free gaming
Cedric: Was that a short-people remark?

Stuff like that.

- Nick Bounty following a lead to CWF, everything but CWFname is in grey-scales.

Also just your average "CWF - Quality Freeware gaming" will do, or a "CWF - Helping the indie game developers", or "Looking for a good community?" or "Want to help developers make games?" or "We need a good designer, is that you?" or "Want to hear a secret :D" stuff like that. :D
I need things to cycle between so people will keep looking by and not ignore the ads/get used to them.

Oh wow...I just had an idea for a tower banner, have a really smokin girl standing there, mid body up, or at least so the eye-level is at the upper 1/3 split line. Then add a speech bubble that says something like, "hey there, big boy..."

then, animate to add something at the bottom, "CWF for all the hottest FreeWare Gaming"

@SFault: For animations: If you can get me some jpegs, I can look into animating them...it just takes me forever to freehand stuff...

Here's my rough samples.

And BTW. I have stared doing some work for getting some banner/link exchange going on with other freeware sites. Having a few links on good sites concentrated around similar things as our site would do good for our pagerank...

I think our problem is that we really need a good design before we can settle on banners...
So what are the steps to be made in that direction...Any ideas?
I think the small one looks good, but I am having some issues with the rainbowy one. It makes me want to smoke weed or something. :D
But good work still!
