Archive.org's collection

Post by jayenkai »

Just stumbled upon this, and thought you guys might like it.
Not sure how long this has existed, but Archive.org is now collecting a Classic PC games archive.

Obviously it's not all freeware, and there'll be plenty of shareware files in amongst the collection, but it's nice to see a place collecting these things that won't suddenly up and vanish some day! For the most part, once something's up on Archive.org, it pretty much stays there!

So, um, yeah. Looks like it could be fun to rummage through some of this stuff.

They also have a collection of software classics that you can play in your browser. I like how they chose "E.T." (Atari 2600) as one of the games that need preservation.
