$100!
A bargain, assuming it all works as planned!

Currently still using the free version, which only does HTML results, so I've not really stress tested the language yet.

Speaking of which, this weeks game has been.. let's say "cancelled"
I can't seem to settle down to code, this weekend, and I'm pretty sure it's to do with the fact that I've been stuck watching all this Japan stuff unfold.
Kinda messed up my usual rhythm a bit.

I'll get back to things next week.

Rhythm Messy!
Plan Crumbling!
Chaos Chaotic!

The Monkey test didn't really turn out as well as I'd hoped it would.

If you have GoogleChrome, which I think most of you don't ( ;) ) you can give the test a whirl here.

It's not very good.

So, with a lot of shouting, I'm going to try using another different language, this week!
Should be fun.
..
The crazy insane kind of fun!

I have Google Chrome - but the important question here is... Why DID it cross the road?
:)

If Chaos is chaotic is it fullfilling its purpose then?

You'd be surprised. It's the second biggest browser after Firefox around here. Every fourth guy here uses Chrome.

That's good to know, then ;)
Future HTML based endeavours will probably use PlayMyCode.com, mostly because I think I've fallen out with the Monkey language!

But hey, you never know! I used to hate BlitzMax, too, and now I use it all the time!

Indeed.. The trials and tribulations of language changing caused me to shout and scream.
A month off was needed, and the end result is that I'm now NOT changing languages.
F' that! Not worth the hassle.

iOS
April was spent working on iPhone stuff, instead, with a new framework and a couple of games.
Not bad for a month "off", really. One game's half done, the other's already in the AppStore, as of (timely!) today!
I think you guys previously enjoyed Puzzobomb, didn't you!? Well, that's now on iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. Kickass!
(and only a week coding it, too!.. It'd've been out last Thursday if it wasn't for the Apple Approval gubbins.)

Win/Lin/Mac
I've started this week's game, it's half done, and will be ready for Tuesday, because that's the first of May, and that's the end of my month off!
Everything's sorted, back on track, and entirely downloadable!!
Worry not!

Misc
I also started a tumblr page for AL.. but you're heading into my messy mental crazyness, if you follow that link!

I have heard that you can cross a dateline when flying around the globe, but I never heard of more than one, and May 1st should be this Sunday no matter where you are in the world...

Man, it's been a hard couple of days...
Trying to get back into the swing of AGameAWeek is a killer!

Who knew that a month off would cause such chaos to my regular work schedule...?
.. well, I did, actually. It's exactly the same thing that happens every time I have a month off!
Never mind.

Week 29!
Back to BlitzMax
Having gone mental trying to find a new language, I decided it really wasn't worth it all, and ended up right back where I started.
So with that exact same mindset, I went WAY WAY back to the start of my Blitz programming, and plucked a good old game out of the archive.

In truth, this was meant to be going on my iPhone, but having thought about it, I figured it probably wouldn't be too hard once you're stabbing your fingers all over the screen!
Instead, this went right back onto the PC again, and it's still just as much fun with a mouse!

Matrix Blaster
Think of it as a stylised Missile Command.
Image
The green code falls down the screen, and if you spot some red code, kill it before it reaches the bottom.

Windows Download, Archive Page

I would've added more to the game, (powerups!!) but ... as is always the case.. something annoying cropped up at the last minute.. Grrrr...

Trying to keep up with myself
*blink*
OK, let's see..

Week Thirty
I did Mister Smash last week. That's not too bad. A little quirky, and really rather difficult on the "Avoid the Reds" setting.
Image
Smash the blocks, make your way down, see what the highest score you can achieve is, for each level.
Good/Bad?
Not sure! It's "one of those"...!

Week ThirtyOne
Ignore this week!!
I started "Munky CLI", but I haven't finished it yet.
Stupid me made a game that's WAY over the top!
It's a redo of "Munky in a Mario Costume", but with weird allsorts all over!
A slight ultimatum has been set. If it isn't done, this week, then I'm scrapping it.

iOS!
I can't keep up with my own brainstorming, and now have 6 games on the go at once! This is just chaos in here!!!

.. I'm trying!

*ugh* You woke me up! ;)

Had a few rubbish weeks, lately, so haven't been posting as I oughta.

The previous 3 weeks have been..

Week ThirtyTwo. Generic Wordsearch.. A vague attempt at making it more Arcadey, but in the end it's still just a wordsearch.
Image

Week ThirtyThree. Generic Race Horse Gambling. But not as generic as you'd think, what with them being unicorns! Still a wholly Random affair, so probably not something the CWF peeps will like. I seem to remember "It's just random" being a common complaint ;)
Image

Week ThirtyFour. Generic Juggling game. Bounce the balls from one side of the screen to the other.
Image

I'm being a bit unfair. Those are all quite fun, to be honest. The bouncing ball thing's nice and hard, the random unicorn thing's just crazy at trying to score (like proper gambling!!) and the wordsearch gets beyond normal difficulties as all the letters are exactly the same!
.. but they are all quite. um.. "normal"
I think I've run out of ideas!

This week's will be better. I'll be posting (ooh, game prepared in advance!) a Win/Lin/Mac el'cheapo edition of a great big iPhone game that appeared in the AppStore on Thursday. Is it a cheat to post a demo as AGameAWeek? Don't care, it's a lovely game! And you'll love it, too.

ps, Space Clusters was part of Year3?! Oh, boy, it's been a long year!!

I added the files for Mac and Linux, so now you can download all versions from the game info page.

Week ThirtyFive : Sheep Goes Left
This one's a demo! (Eeek, arrrgh, eeeuwww, noooo!!!!)
Temporarily, of course.. I'll be posting the freeware version in a month or so. I'm just eeking a few sales out whilst I can ;)

Windows, Linux/Mac, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad!

Image
Image

The iOS edition is bigger/better, with a complete 20 track soundtrack, and 100 levels to make your way through.
The Windows/Linux/Mac "demo" has 40 levels and no music. (Mostly 'cos the music is all mp3's, and the iOS one shot up to 50 smegging Mb!!)

Guide the sheep towards the left, avoiding all the nasties along the way!

Let me know what you think..! (And this won't be the norm! I'm not defecting!!)

Ah well, Freeware it is.
Sales have been absolutely abysmal, so instead, sod it, might as well give it away!

If you want to redownload the Sheep game, above, you'll now find that all 100 of the levels are in there.
Still no music, though.. The music's too big! (50Mb!)

If you'd like to hear all the music, though, you can click here, where I've stuck all 20 tracks up onto Archive.org :D
Crackin' soundtrack, even if I do say so myself!

"I'll see what I can do"

If I do bother to, it'll be a case of grabbing the zip file from the above link, then slapping it into the right folder, to get the thing going. but..
.. I kinda hate making people do that!

I'd much rather have a With Music/Without Music version online, but then that means uploading 50Mb three times!! (one for Win/Linux/Mac!!)
.. pants..!

Really went overboard with the music, methinks!

I've learned my lesson!

Maybe we can help if the size of the files (or the traffic) is a problem for you? We could probably validate it rather quickly and if it is as good as I expect it to be (for sure it gets an extra bonus for the great retro soundtrack from me), we could upload it to our server and you could link the people who want the version with the included music to our site?
