Ah, 1337. Language of the nerds. :)

It seems you are using a laptop computer where the Num keys are located among the letter and you have NumLK turned on.

I did that once and i thought some kind of software had ruined my keyboard layout. :)

No, it is Chroelle on a laptop.

Depending on your laptop's exact keyboard configuration, try either just pressing the key marked 'number lock', or the 'fn' key + number lock.

Ah...Back to my desktop PC. :)

Yes my numpad keys have moved over and taken the functions from some of the letters on the keyboard - but this only happens after the computer has been in stand-by mode, or has run out of power and starts up the same session again. Tanja says she tried it once where it changed without going into hibernation but I am not sure if she just didn't forget it went into hibernation...
But as you can see there are some issues with my keyboard - does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this or what might be wrong...

Here is the translation for those in need, and for future searchresults:

Go to the manufacturer's website and download and run the latest BIOS update, and see if there are any other software updates that address power management or the keyboard controller.

Sounds like an issue a BIOS update might likely solve.

Let us all know how it goes, C. If it doesn't help, then for now I am out of ideas.

Say, if it doesn't, then could you post the manufacturer and model number of the laptop?

I will do that. So far it hasn't presented itself since I wrote in here, but one of these days when I least expect it...

There's a design flaw in couple of laptops that if you close the lid, it might accidentally press (among ohters) the num lock key. So, it might be a "hardware" problem...

At least I've seen that happen that way and even personally on an older Thinkpad.
