My computer is acting up - tytytytytytytyty

Post by Chroelle »

Well my computer seems to be locking up recently after a short run of about 10 minutes it goes crazy with writing tytyttytytytytytytytytyty and all I can do is try to exit the programs I am running. I can't even close down the PC, as it seems to be trying to move left as far as it can branch out in the menues, which means it wont let me press the TURN OFF button.
After hardbooting it a couple of times it said it couldn't find my userprofile or that it was corrupt, and it made me a temporary profile where nothing sticks. I tried giving it some rest, and that helped with the profile thing, but I still have the issue with it typing tytytytytytyty whenever I try to do anything. It also scrolls down to the bottom of any page I visit instantaniously, and wont let me scroll back up.
I of course checked to see if there were any keys stuck or something like that, but there isn't...

Anybody please?

Hmm, sounds strange. I assume you checked the system for all kinds of virus?

Did you install any new software or hardware during the last few days? If you did, try to make a system recovery with the date your computer worked fine for the last time and see if it has anything to do with it.

Also try to disconnect all the things you don't really need to run your computer (like game controllers etc.).

That's all ideas I have (and I believe you had most of them yourself)...

Update your antivirus and do a complete scan... or indeed disconnect game controllers of any kind.

I saw something like this years ago, and the one I saw, was a keyboard contoller failure. Replace the keyboard with a cheap PS/2 type and see what happens. I mean, get a two dollar cheapie from a thrift store or something, for testing purposes.

Other than that, I doubt it is a virus. Could also be an IRQ conflict in BIOS. I remember years ago, I saw a moomoo (Gateway) that had a conflict, that whenever the modem was used (And it was an old ISA that had jumpers), the mouse would not work.

Do you happen to have a Logitech EX110 wireless keyboard?

Mine used to do the same thing, right out of the box, I plugged it in and it worked for about 20 minutes, then it did nothing but type vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv...I couldn't really do anything...

I took it back to the store, and they tried it out, and it worked perfectly for about 20 minutes, and I thought I was out of luck, then it started...so they switched it with a new one...
