Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth

Post by Pater Alf »

This is a fanmade game about the popular hero "Indiana Jones". It´s in development for quite a time now and it´s unsure when it will be released, but there is a demo available and so I hope there will be a release of the game during 2007. But let the developers speak for themselves:

"The game, Fountain Of Youth (known by many as FoY) is a freeware point and click adventure game with a similar style to the classic LucasArts adventure, Fate of Atlantis. It is being developed by an international team of enthusiastic fans of both Indiana Jones and point & click adventures.

Our game is not a SEQUEL, it does not continue where Fate of Atlantis finished. In fact, our game is set BEFORE Fate of Atlantis. We consider FoY to be a "sister" product.

The project first came about in 2001, when Jocke Andersson had the idea of making an un-official sequel for "Fate of Atlantis". He considered it to be a small project and retired as project leader in mid 2001.

At this stage, Mark Lovegrove took over the project and revamped it - and has led the project to the current day. The project has already gone through a lot of team changes, and other changes including a major story re-haul and more.

GENERAL GAME INFORMATION
> An original, deep non-linear storyline
> classic 320x200 resolution
> 16 bit colour
> Fully animated characters, meet, talk, interact & fight
> More than a hundred rooms to explore
> Meet over twenty interesting characters
> Innovative design including an intergrated path system
> Brand new character capabilities
> Different character control
> IQ points, new features & upgraded GUI/control interface
> Full original MIDI soundtrack
> Custom recorded sound effects
> Animated cut-scenes "

I'm playing demo atm, brilliant game, recreates atmosphere of Fate of Atlantis almost perfectly. Writing, puzzles - everything looks like ripped straight off Indy IV.

I only hope creators know what "trade mark" means... ;)

Not much happening... Forum visitors are actually more active than developers and keep asking about the progress. But there's no progress.

Project suspended.

I think there's still hope. There's a post from the developer from October 2007 (just three months ago) in which he said they are working on the game, they make progress in drawing the characters and they are still looking for some additional help.

See the second post by Mark. He promises "surprises" and "plenty of developments" for this year. Not sure what it means, but at least it proves the game isnt completely dead.

Sounds good! This is still a game I want to see finished one day in the future.

There are at least two new mini-games you can download from the homepage ("Indiana Jones and the Passage of Saints" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Spheres"). But don't expect too much, both of them are just small joke games.

I wonder if anybody over there works on the actual game.

Update from the site:

In 2013 the team took the decision to split the game up and release it as Chapters. Development progresses but we are also recruiting for more talent to join us and ease the workload.
