You see dead people? The generic ink-blot thread

Post by elgado »

I know I already posted this on OG, but bear with me, I've my reasons for copying and pasting this. Think of it as something I like to call: a quest for knowledge.™

I'll post the non-scientific results and impressions within a few days. I'll also be conducting this here thread in a few other abandonware-related forums I frequent(ed). That way we'll get a better picture of which one poses a greater threat to society.

That said, post your first impressions and try not to think of your mother while doing this, 'k?

My impressions, copypasted from Friendly fire where this thread was posted first (We so rule \o/ ) :D

1. Bat. As in the flying rodent rather than a baseball one.

2. Mandelbrot.

3. Pangaea

4. Butterfly with a bomb

5. Another bat.

6. A nuclear explosion

7. Someone giving the thumbs up

8. Some sinister looking monk

9. The devil

10. Foxes being eaten by scorpions

Aside from "Butterfly with a bomb" (My mind was a total blank :D ), all these are my real first impressions...

Without commenting the gross flaws of projective psychological testing in general, I'll play too.

1) Pelvic girdle. Or a butterfly.

2) Face of a dog. It looks sad.

3) Two androgynous people bent over indeterminable object. Butterfly between them. Two small monkeys in the background.

4) Man on motorcycle racing forward.

5) A bat.

6) Hmmm. Some kind of machine. Perhaps a drilling tool or similar with handles on either side. Or a spaceship.

7) Two bunnies balancing on a concave shape. Or a fake beard.

8) The helmet of the black knight. Or a trophy with animals.

9) This one is evil. It's a snarling werewolf, showing its incisors and elongated cuspids.

10) Chaos. Cave-man grafitti depicting various animals (although disproportionately). Lobsters, gazelles, swans, foxes, mice, eagles and mutated quadrupeds.

I think the real Rorschach blots are coloured. That might influence the viewers interpretations.

1) A Stealth Fighter

2) Two people playing a hand clapping game

3) Ballerinas doing a crazy twirl

4) Godzilla

5) The real Bat Man

6) A bomb blast

7) Two little Indians

8) Head on praying mantis

9) The Diabolically Evil Throne

10) Three of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

How you like them apples?

I'm guessing that Elgado either wants to see x number of replies or wait y days before he posts the answers/results.
In the first case: Will people please look at those ****** images and tell what they see?
In the latter case I would think sufficient time has already elapsed.

Or... Perhaps Elgado put them here never intending to submit the results. In that case I'm seriously worried about Elgado's own mental health...

It's interesting having an insight into peoples mental state.

Except Zyx and #2 of course. Sick, sick, sick. The mind boggles! ;)

I must be in a gaming mood because for some reason I see most of them as potential maps for a game of CIV.

1. Squashed bird
2. Two chickens playing patty-cake
3. Kif (Zapp Brannigan's side kick from Futurama)
4. After reading Pitkins and Zyx's responses I can't think of anything not rude. The only thing which does come to mind is "Impressive" or "Bang Bros" (If you have to ask, don't!)
5. Fruit bat
6. Ship design from Master of Orion
7. Good map for CIV - good size land and good choke points for defence.
8. Inside of a crab
9. Mothership (end boss) of a side scrolling shooter
10. Dancing crabs / scorpions.

Having reread the thread title and having looked at the pictures again, I can see how many could be the internals of humans. But it's not pornography or dead things that I would automatically think of, unless that was intended in the design of the ink blots.

5. Batman

6. Roadkill

7. Someone giving the 'New York Salute' with both hands

8. Darth Vader

9. Cat head outline

10. Some sort'a dead bug
