You're not wrong, it was just a picture from one of the early ones. I should find a later picture of the same characters so you can see how much the art has progressed... but I can't be bothered.

She is called Linda in Denmark.

Edit: And he is called Valentin.

In Poland Laureline was simply omitted from the title. :)

Does no one at least know the artist? And don't let yourself confuse by the language, the original comic was in French.

I was sure I could recognise the monster, but had no clue, so I did a cheaty google search - and it seems I was wrong. I ever heard of the comic...

I will solve then. It was "Donjon" by Lewis Trondheim and Joann Sfar.

Oh. There's, like, both a comic and a cartoon thread? I'd lumped them together....

Me too, on more than one occasion. Should we keep it that way and merge the two? Just to make it more interesting - many comics were made cartoons as well, and I just submitted one in the other thread where I actually found one that was both comic and cartoon.

I think we should keep them both. But maybe it's just because I'm a comic book collector and don't watch that many cartoons.

It's definitely from Frank Cho. I don't think that scene is from "University Freaks", so it is probably "Liberty Meadows".

Here's a classic one from an artist that became much more famous for another comic book (which was in fact a spinoff of this one):

Johan et Pirlouit is the original title - in Denmark it is Henrik og Hagbard. I loved this one. But I have no recollection of the Smurfs being a spinoff of this one - perhaps I forgot. Do they appear in the comic?

EDIT: I had to research this at once, and found that they actually appeared for the first time in one of the comics. I did not know that! :)

EDIT 2: Their name in English is Johan and Peewit. :)
