Good to see you too, Scythe...and glad to see everyone else is still here too.

Funny thing happened this week...I didn't have to work a ludicrous amount of overtime. I almost didn't know what to do with myself when I woke up this morning, so I thought I'd pop in and rate some freeware.

Ask me the same question again in 2050. I know there are no trees or marshes which I love so much, but things change. Ive just returned from the snowy/foggy trip and it was pleasurable (except woman's swollen ankle which needed treatment and my involvement). I withstanded fog and snow, so I may as well withstand more harsh conditions. ;)

I can't recommend growing old in Greenland. But of course, in 2050 it might be the only habitable place left in the world. And you know what? They have trees now in southern Greenland. Not forests, but trees. There were 0 trees there 20 years ago.

Were the trees there intentional? or did they just happen?

The first ones were intentional, people have been trying for a while. They've never managed to take root and survive the winter before though.

What trees? Pines?

Growing old maybe not, but moving there when I'm 70... It would be perfect place for writing memoirs.

Unfortunately, Greenland may not be that fine place to live in 2050; likely, it will be one huge open-pit mine.

Fir, I think. Some kind of evergreen. Dunno, haven't seen them, I was further north.

What I mean is that health care is not top notch in Greenland and is even less likely to be once they attain their independence from Denmark. That's not a place you'll want to retire to.

I plan to be in perfect shape, so I am more interested in land lot prices. :P

I don't believe in perfect world, but I'm optimist by heart, so it's difficult to discourage me.

I don't consider myself an optimist or a pessimist. I consider myself "Realistic".

Your avatar certainly looks like unable to decide which way to go.

Changing subject. Ive read an interesting article and started to think whether it would be possible to bring similar suit here. Ear stoppers do the job and it doesn't happen on daily basis, but it's not comfortable to fall asleep with your ears plugged.

My wife sleeps with ear plugs in periodically either because I snore way too much, or every noise on the planet wakes her up.

But I'll tell you, I used to live in an apartment a few years ago and the people above us had a bunch of dogs and they were always running around, and the guy below us used to blow his smoke out the window while having a cigarette and it would get sucked into our air conditioner, and the lady on one side would always be yelling at her children, and the guy on the other side would crank up the bass at 6:00am and leave their crying dog at home for hours on end...so, in a way I can relate.

I am pretty excited to stop by for a second and see you back PAger. Since you disappeared from both CWF and Facebook I was getting concerned. Glad to see you are your old optimistic pessimistic self. :)

Things are running in a high speed around here. I am WAY TOO busy for it to be good for me. I am getting up early to take care of the kids, and I go to bed around midnight when I am done with work. That is kind of discouraging. I have that feeling of being behind all the time - which is not good for you. And to top it all off - a woman was murdered (possibly by a burglar) more or less just around the corner from here. Its pretty nervewrecking when you sit up alone all the time, and when I am finally out, then Tanja is home alone with the kids and uneasy. I cant imagine what it must be like to be the neighbours of that poor family. (Or of course to be the poor family).

On good news. Surftown has once more gotten their money so CWF will be hosted for the next year too. :)
I would order beers all around, but since I have to do some work, I might be better off ordering "COFFEES ALL AROUND!"
