Although I can't enjoy all the eye candy currently possible, due to my hardware being a little long in the tooth, I still getting a level of gaming performance that I'm happy with. P4 3.2GHz HT, 1GB DDR 3200 @ C2 Dual Channel, X800XL 256Mb DDR3, an ancient but still going hard SoundBlaster Live!, 2x...

Personally, I believe there are too many genres, unless you plan to give a game multiple tags and cross link them all. The definition needs to be as broad as possible. From your initial list I would merge most: Platform -> same as sidescroller and includes acarde Logic/puzzle -> includes board games...

I recently finished playing Prey and thought I share (bore) you with my thoughts. Having been spoilt by the premium FPS (ie, Half Life 2) I'm pretty picky about those games which I do play. Since I moved out of Sydney, to some land, I haven't really had the time (as much as I would like) to play wit...

(I thought of this as a trifle, but apparently it isn't) :? Well, it is really. I don't actually believe what I'm arguing. ;) But it's a greater challenge to argue a point I don't believe in rather than something I do believe in. So, don't think I'm having a go at you, just in case the thought ever...

I don't belive in, that my thoughts are just chemistry, I don't wanna believe in it! - its a unique gift from the Lord. And therefor we gotta use it the best we can :-). I'm afraid that's a very irrational thing to say I wouldn't consider Kualles statement to be irrational. It's simply based on a d...

I think all these games have an end to the tech tree somewhere, although many games tackle this problem in different ways. The CIV series made every 'Future Tech' add more points to your score. Master of Orion did max out at level 99 for all techs - but up to this point, the improvements would keep ...

Re: Animal Rights
No, but closely related. I agree. Although I would question whether serial killers had a conscience and whether cruelity towards animals was necessarily a stepping stone to murdering people. But you seem to be implying that you refrain from tormenting animals because you are worried you will become...

the brain doesn't wait until it has analysed every bit of information, because that does not serve to optimize its efficiency. Indeed. Our brain is automatically editing bits out which it doesn't consider important. Our perception is already 'dumbed' down - but only to the point which our enviromen...

Re: Animal Rights
I think that sometimes lengthy introductions prevents the thread from getting off the ground in the first place. True. Short and sweet and to the point is good but it needs a sting in the tail - different people react to different things. So, do you see as cruelity to animals and humans as the same...

Re: Animal Rights
(Note: I'm experimenting with different types of introductions to my threads). Really. Why? Will this make it more interesting to read? ;) Personally, I find that "rights" without responsibilities are meaningless to say the least. As animals understand neither, the desire to grant rights ...
