Re: The little Inn by the wayside

RAillo - I had a sudden urge to insert a mental picture of an old school Batman comic fight when I read about "The suited man in a fedora beating up local gangmembers," Hum along everyone. Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da BATMAN! Funny you came up with that. One of the neig...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Maria and I are still house hunting. A number of houses we were interested in up north, the properties all sat on iron ore deposits, or near ones, and state law changed recently to allow more mining. Interesting though that the mining companies were buying these properties well before the law was vo...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

That, and she is correct now that I think about it, I did indeed mention getting engaged on BD as well. I had forgotten that. So yup, a coincidence.

Quite a fun one though!

Time to get drinks flowing again in the inn!

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

We're all fine, they didn't even get a chance to get near Maria or Skoda. As it is, these punks' egos are all mortally wounded though. Even when they get released someday, they still got to hear flak from other punks about the guy in a suit and fedora taking on all of them and winning. Indeed, there...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Now Dizi is back too??? With 666 posts? Is this a sign the end is coming?

In the time since Dizi was last here (I think), I've gotten engaged, have a kid, won a major lawsuit (Maria and I both did, actually), so I hope this not a sign of the end!

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

From what the police have told me, indeed these punks attacking children was part of a gang initiation system. Brilliant. Prove how tough they are by attacking small children.

Ever think to yourself that you wish you could repartition and format the hard drive of humanity?

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Or that he has nice weather in his area. Something we finally at long last seem to have here. Nice enough that we took Skoda to the park today to play. Packed a few sandwiches, some orange juice, and had a nice day right until the gangbanger punks came around started beating up small children. No cl...

Re: Why are you happy today?

Thanks! We've also noticed that she is starting to form words. Hasn't said a complete word yet, but seems close, like her giggling and baby talk is starting to become more coherent. This does seem a bit young to talk, but then, I was talking not long after turning 2, and she is one year 2 months. An...

Re: Why are you happy today?

Skoda was able to walk a short distance on her own today for the first time. For the past couple months she could walk three or four steps then tumble to the ground. Today she walked about 12 feet on her own. That kid is just like me, doesn't give up and keeps going until she's got it. When Maria pi...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I can relate. I go through spurts with games and even with model railroading too, where I will be very active in a certain game for a few weeks, then put it down for a while. With my model railroading, I'll have a week or two of nothing but scenery work, then a week or two with a focus of freight ca...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I would think "Uninteresting wallpaper" would be what comes with Windows. Mine is a photo from a railroad museum of four historic locomotives. Grabbed it off their site, cropped it to fit my screen. Rain for the past two days, and forecasted through the end of the week. Skoda is grouchy to...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Even nicer out today. Is a bit funny, that it is nice enough that I wore a t-shirt outside and was comfortable, but in places generally in the shade with little sunlight, there is still small piles of ice and snow that have yet to melt. The landlord hid a bunch of eggs around his properties, he owns...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I reread that, eMTe, and I see what you mean now. Sadly, in the USA, there are plenty of good size towns with no transit options. Time was just about every town had a streetcar line at least. Mostly they were city-owned or owned by the electric company, especially in the early 1900s. In the 1930s Na...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

With the transit line will also come other benefits to a town: As people can get around easier, people then go more places, shopping, restaurants, places that generate revenue for local businesses and generate tax revenue. In many cases even a basic transit system can be a big boon to a small town, ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

As everyone has noticed, it wouldn't matter if there was a law or not here about those kinds of tactics. Pace has never cared much about the law anyway.

Pace, through its various operating divisions (Known as garages), serves the entire suburban Chicago area. In Chicago itself, transit is handled by the Chicago Transit Authority, the CTA. The ring around Chicago, with Waukegan to the north, and Joliet to the south, and Aurora to the west with the Il...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Two Fridays ago, the rules were changed at the bus driver's union, to allow non-inhouse employees to hold union office. This was a welcome change, as having union officers working for the company has never worked well. So soon they'll hold another election for union officers, as the current presiden...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Looks like Maria and I will be holding off on moving north for a while. We recently found out why so much land has been bought up. Some laws were changed a month or so ago in Wisconsin, making it easier for mining companies to start new mining operations. Iron ore is a huge commodity up there, as is...
