Not exactly a citybuilder but Europa 1400: The Guild starts in 1400 and is based almost soley in Europe. Other than that, many games set in ancient Rome/ Greece ( Zeus , Caeser , etc.) but I'd go for Medieval Lords: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/medieval-lords-build-defend-expand A game whic...

Small point but... I think it is Wii Play that comes free with a controller rather than the other way round - You're paying £30 for the controller, £5 for Wii Play.

Gendo and Dizi - have neither of you bought Wii Sports??

I didn't pre-order one, instead I got up at 6.30am and went with a friend to a Tescos Home Store - the only store in the country doing a "first come, first served" policy (i.e. no preorders). I was number 8 in the queue they only had 48. 9.00am - store opened, 9.05 - Nintendo Wii sold out....

Small (game) ROM question

I was just wondering why on NES, SNES, MAME etc. ROM files there are often certain symbols and letters after the filename... I'm referring mainly to "[!]" which one usually sees after certain versions of NES files, say for example: Mega Man 3 (U) [!].nes Now why has that US version of Mega...

To me TBS = Panzar General, Heroes of Might and Magic, Darklords, Age of Wonders um... maybe Jagged Alliance and the X-com games too.

Surely we must make a distinction between the close focus of these games compared with the scope and epic sweep of the 4-x games.

Ok, this game was called Super Putty - head over to OG and dl it pronto if you haven't played it, very novel and original platformer - much better than Kirby (closest thing you could compare it to) imo.

Here something else for you, typical NeoGeo title:

The Case for NOT lumping 4x with TBS/ RTS

For me, 4x games are distinct from TBS/ RTS games in many ways. I can see an argument for say, Warcraft and Heroes of Might and Magic going in the same genre, or, say, Command and Conquer and Panzer General - but I CAN'T accept those games going in the same category as Civ, Alpha Centauri, Colonizat...

By the way. I've switched to Firefox 2.0 after IE7.0 wouldn't load about 6 or 7 out of every 10 pages I tried to open. I had to keep renewing it.

Firefox seems faster, I like the lay out, I like almost everything.

Only thing I harbour for, is IE 6.0's favourites box.

Hmmmm.... big tech trees... let me think... I remember Galactic Civilizations having quite a big one: http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/techtree.pdf Well, maybe not. I've done a bit of a search and it seems that Total Annihilation is reknowned for having the biggest tech tree of any RTS - i...

I made a list of genres to go with my Top 100 games on my website: http://www.parviniworld.cjb.cc/Some%20useful%20gaming%20terms.html Seems to me, 4x and Sneaker are both missing from the list above. I'd argue 4x especially has enough games in it to make it a genre unto itself distinct from a TBS or...

Internet Explorer 7.0

I recently upgraded to IE7.0 - I quite like the tags, streamlined layout and, most of all, how seemingly all text has the appearance of a nicely rounded Verdana font. However, my girlfriend, absolutely HATES it - she REALLY REALLY hates it. She's been asking me to change it back all week. So - do yo...

Nintendo Wii

All of a sudden I REALLY want one. This has the potential to be the most revolutionary thing to hit gaming since the release of the NES in 1983 - comments, thoughts... will you be getting one this Xmas? I'm getting up first thing on 8th December to hit the stores with my friend just in case there ar...

I've tried this and it works very well. It's design is pretty functional so it would probably be an advantage to have a working knowledge of the original to get around it quickly as the developers' documentation is rather scant. Genre: 4-X/ Trading/ Strategy Who made it : Open Source Project One or ...
