Re: Cinema

Paulette French variation of "Saving Grace" and "Weeds". An older lady becomes a drug daler after her husband dies and she runs out of money. Funny movie, not because it is very original, but because it has very eccentric characters. Especially the negative, grumpy and racist ma...

Re: What games are you playing currently

I'm playing Omerta - City of Gangsters just to see if the game really deserves all the hate it got when it was published. And after I've played some missions, I have to say that it certainly isn't a masterpiece, but with the latest patch it is a solid game that can be quite entertaining if you like ...

Re: The Humble Bundle

Next thing will be the Humble DRM Bundle . If you buy it they will send you a CD (including Securom) that you have to activate online (of course you can only do it once). If you do so, you'll get a link to a site where you can download a client. After you installed that, you can use it to download a...

Re: Developing Ramblings

A quickly cobbled together game, this week. A simple little Arena Battler, where you have to kill oncoming swarms of Spiders using only Toothpicks. You get 1 minute to kill as many Spiders as you can, but get time taken off if any spiders get too close to your .. um.. circle thing.. Grab a toothpic...

Re: It's the middle of the night

Well obviously I survived. My town was lucky, but others nearby wasn't and were flooded and many people lost their homes or their possessions. But that was weeks ago and for most of us everything is back to normal by now. Good thing when stuff like that happens (if there is anything good in i...

Re: What games are you playing currently

Little Inferno I'm not even sure that this is a real game. All you do is burn weird stuff in your fireplace, buy new stuff and burn that too. From time to time you get strange letters from your neighbour. Sounds lame, but in a strange way it is satisfying, relaxing and addictive. Maybe I have more ...

Re: What games are you playing currently

Thought about giving "Rogue Legacy" a short try. Wanted to play just five minutes to see how the actual gameplay is. This was a very bad idea, for some days now all I do in my free time is to play this very addictive game. Great platform game in Metroidvania style with some rogue-like elem...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Yes, you are right. A database were everybody could upload everything, wouldn't be good. Was thinking more about the possibility that crew members could say which game they want to add and if nobody gives a veto within 10 days it can be added. Would probably still stay a hand-picked quality database...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Keep visiting, people!!! Don't worry, I'm not planning to leave. unfortunately I don't have as much free time as I had some months ago. Also my gaming focus changed from freeware games to commercial games again (blame GOG and some of the indie bundles for that), so I don't write so much in the free...

Re: What games are you playing currently

After the epic Might and Magic, I went for some shorter games... Evoland The game itself isn't very good or challenging, but the idea and the design is great. While playing you get constant updates of the game mechanics and so your quest is also a journey through the history of computer RPGs (especi...

Evil Dead The free ticket I had for "Evil Dead" said something like "The most shocking movie you ever saw". But in fact it was just another one in a series of soulless remakes of unforgettable horror cult classics that replaces low budget charme and atmosphere with blood and gor...

Re: What games are you playing currently

Phantasmaburbia Bought that game from a bundle and didn't care much about it. But then I saw the great trailer and that the game was made by Greg Lobanov (I liked his freeware games "Dubloon" and "Assasin Blue") and thought I might give it a try. And in fact the game is much mor...
