Believe you me, the new Pool does suck. It has incredibly poor implementation of 3E rules, and is utterly boring - one long dungeon crawl. Grandia isn't too bad, if a bit too linear. Your other console suggestions sound pretty familiar, except perhaps Tales of Phantasia, which I'm not sure I've trie...

Well, if you want to brng up some console RPGs, there's nothing wrong with that. I've already played the really good ones, I think - Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, FF, Zelda, Dragon Warrior... Come to think of it, only Chrono Trigger and FFVI deserve real mention...

eMTe is right, and didn't fall into the trap of thinking it might be one of the sequels. ;) I'm away over the weekend, so that should give all of you time to guess the next one without any "interference" from me.

Hey, is it my fault, if I happen to check the forum just as a screenshot is posted? I only check once a day or so, at most.

Make sure you get the right title this time, the wrong one won't do! Other than that, this one should be a cinch.

All right, either this one is easy, or it isn't. Those in the know will recognize the style and name the company at once. Those who know me, should also know about my little obsession. :)

That must be Barbarian. No, not the one where you lob other people's heads off, and have their decapitated bodies carried off by a goblin... the other one... by, uhm, Psygnosis as well, I guess.

I must admit I never considered Gobliins 3 an adventure game. It seemed to lack something, like a plot perhaps? More of a puzzle game, I think. Fine line, I suppose. I enjoyed Beneath a Steel Sky when it originally came out on the Amiga. Quite the wonderful game at the time that seemed to do things ...

Yeah, I know about Return to Krondor. I've completed it ~20 times, I think. Not such a great feat considering it takes 12 hours or so... Also, I know about "that other" Krondor game, which was not a Krondor game at all, but used pretty much the same template - Betrayal in Antara. I haven't...

Longest Journey is a wonderful game. It has a few odd points, and some plot concerns, but it's quite an enjoyable graphic adventure. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

You're right, I've played all of them, and they're good games, which I'd recommend to everybody else. I still play ADOM sometimes, it's quite a nice Rogue-game. So far I've got Dragontorc and Knights of Legend, which I'm pretty sure I've never played before, and this is turning into quite a nice pla...

Sadly, I never had a Spectrum (or even knew anybody who did). Still, Fist (and the eminent Fist+, not at all inspired by IK+) were also found on the C64. :)

The PnP days are over for me, but I still boast an almost complete collection of the old Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules (B, X, CM, M and IM series), and I did a lot of online work for that game world (Mystara). In any case, I've bought a PS2 just to play RPGs that I haven't tried before, s...

SGSW, you suggested Fallout... No cookie for you! (read my first post ;) ) Would it surprise you that I already played all of those? lol! Divine Divinity was a poor Diablo clone, not my kind of game, the others were good, and Planescape is probably the best computer RPG ever, just a little too new f...

I played Darklands till my eyes felt like they were falling out of their sockets... Actually I think I spent more time creating characters than playing the game. lol! And, well, I already went through most abandonware sites' RPG lists, but sorting the trash from the gold is just too much work, when ...

I'll go with some text based ones... It would obviously (to those in the know) be silly to mention anything by Infocom, so I'll try not to. One of my all time favorites is Hound of Shadow, a Lovecraftian text adventure ("Interactive Fiction" if you like elitist sounding genre titles - I'll...

Thank you for your suggestions! The only one I haven't already played, though, is Dragontorc. I'll see if I can't scare it up somewhere. As for Unlimited Adventures, that's not a game, but an editor, which I did of course spend some time with back in the day. Dark Sun is awesome, the sequel less so,...

I Need Great RPGs of the Past!!

All right, so this is a selfish topic, made for completely selfish reasons, which maybe will be inspirational for somebody else, who knows? In any case... I consider myself quite experienced when it comes to "role playing games" on the computer. I mean, I've been around. But I'm always loo...

Parvini, your "obscure" games aren't that bad. Then of course it could be argued that if anybody should know "obscure" titles, it would be us... I remember I once made a complete list of "playable" characters in Nomad Soul, and the favorite was a thief you could get to ...
