This video was created and uploaded by my arch-nemesis at the Pace garage. Yes, he really is this screwed up in the head, especially with the idea of using an axe to spread peanut butter.

Just saw this from Chicago, seems pretty relevant:

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I've heard of things like that. While we have lots, and I do mean lots of trains, we don't needlessly buy them. In fact, I've slowed up with buying a bit, preferring to focus on upgrading and improving the equipment we have.
There's a major difference between collecting, hoarding, and an addiction.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I sure have not contributed to the article, if that is what you mean. McCollum's big mistake is operating the equipment. Being in New York doesn't help anymore either though. This story sounds a bit like me too. I have all kinds of trinkets train related. A railroad issue flashlight an engineer gave...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I remember him! We've been thinking around here, after we move to Wisconsin, I should find a replacement for Pace. I suggest Darius McCollum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darius_McCollum Has the same disability as I do, same fascination with transport. But my New York doppleganger has one major diff...

Re: Why are you happy today?
I checked out the link to a live concert with that song. I was very surprised, because I always thought, hearing the song on the radio, that the singer was black, maybe from the Caribbean. So much for voice and accent being able to geographically or racially identify someone...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I used to read and write quite a lot. In Junior High I wrote a story almost 70 typewritten pages long. Typed on a computer, 10 point font (My standard at the time). Single spaced. Then wrote one over 350 pages (Same deal, 10pt font single space) a few years later. Plus I would read quite a lot when ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Seems I missed Chroelle's birthday here. Been very busy with little time to post. Happy very late birthday, C! We've set a firm date to be out of Illinois, and that is to be out no later than the end of this month. The house we are buying in northern Wisconsin, now has to be subject to more groundwa...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
We had heavy rain for a while here. The kind that if my dad is driving, he calls it a "Polish car wash". I still think it an odd twist of fate that the one adopted boy among those my age, is the only one who carries forward tradition. Doesn't bother me, just means I don't have to share tra...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Just never know, eMTe. I do know my great-grandfather was a clockmaker back in Germany, he came over with two of his brothers, who, from what I know, were both skilled woodworkers. German craftsmanship also runs in the family. Oddly, though, my great-grandfather and my grandfather were both skilled ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
CWF seemed to be offline for a while earlier. Maintenance? Couple days ago Maria, Skoda, and I went to dad's house. Dad and I pulled out of a display case in the basement, an electric locomotive my great-grandfather owned when he emigrated here from Germany about a hundred years ago. We set it on th...

And if you havent discovered it yet you can click cats to throw them and make them bounce harder. Also, notice the "make it rain!" button in the upper right corner. It isn't there for nothing. ^^ I noticed that cats were "Throwable", and also saw the technicolor cats too. On the...

Re: Which invention has benefitted mankind the most?
Rube Goldberg contraptions! Parts of our model railroad's workings remind me of something he would create. But they worked. For example, we had an oil pump with the "horsehead" style pumps. But we wanted the pumps to start and stop seemingly randomly, and sometimes pump faster than others....

That brings a concept of its own: Basic things in the world, like kites, impact out lives in ways we can't even imagine.

Re: Which invention has benefitted mankind the most?
But sliced bread could not possibly exist without bread. Therefore, the invention of bread is more amazing. Besides, "Sliced bread" is just bread that was run through a slicing machine. Not a terribly amazing idea really. One could slice bread before, and even pay someone to slice it for t...

Re: Which invention has benefitted mankind the most?
Wind and hydro power may indeed be on the rise, but without all these fancy technologies out there, there'd hardly be a use for them. Sounds like chicken and the egg, but not quite. Steam is basically the harnessing of fire and water to do useful work, and as such, can be harnessed with simple techn...

Re: Which invention has benefitted mankind the most?
The steam engine. Think of it: Steam engines were developed in the 18th century as stationary engines to pump water out of mines. But in 1804 someone had the idea to mount it on wheels, let it run on horse drawn tramway rails, and pull a load. Up to this point, no one in the early 19th century had b...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Funny you should say that. Apparently, in Italian, Pace means peace, I seriously doubt the bosses of your archnemetic organisation know Italian. Very true. But the irony is hilarious! Pace in Italian means Peace. In English, it seems to mean Perpetual War. Another 10 to 14 days around here. ...

Re: Crime is the cultural issue
I've often felt some crimes, particularly sexual oriented crimes, show that humanity, for all of its fancy gadgets, gizmos, and knowledge, is still an inherently barbaric and caveman-like species. After all, there is only nominal difference between a caveman clubbing a cavewoman over the head and dr...
