Re: Developing Ramblings

I currently have two projects on the go. Sheep Goes Right is the "Big" project, but everything that I need to do is little minor bit-part features, so I'm more or less letting that take a back seat. I need to make oodles of levels, add new "objects" and create a few background st...

Re: Developing Ramblings

A couple of weeks on, and I'm kinda falling in love with OUYA. Sure, it's kinda quirky, and I really can't be bothered messing about with Tax Forms and the like, but as far as flinging freeware games onto a console goes.. This is pretty much as good as it gets! Over the past couple of weeks, I've po...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

We've always been a poor family, and the way that both me and my younger sister appreciate the ideals of hard work, and actually earning your money seems somewhat strange in our era of Quick-Cash and .. pretty much scamming everyone around. I can't stand that mentality. Even, sat here, in my current...

Archive.org's collection

Just stumbled upon this, and thought you guys might like it. Not sure how long this has existed, but Archive.org is now collecting a Classic PC games archive. Linkage Obviously it's not all freeware, and there'll be plenty of shareware files in amongst the collection, but it's nice to see a place co...

Re: Developing Ramblings

So... I bought an OUYA.. I wasn't going to. I kinda wanted one, but I know how little time I spend playing games, nowadays, and the idea of spending £100 on a "console" that I might never actually play, seemed a bit silly. But then, I CAN make games for it, which is a wee bit tempting.. Mo...

Re: Developing Ramblings

"Closure", originally created as the closing theme for JNKPlat07, but unused since I never really ever DO endings in JNKPlat games..! Lay about mostly unused until I did JNKPlat 2010, (I think!!!?) where it got used in the background, in random places. When I did NeonPlat Adventures, I ope...

Re: Developing Ramblings

The original Sheep Goes Left had a soundtrack by AL O'DARE. Complete Soundtrack available here. AL has forever been my musical inability. The part of me that creates stupid sounding music for the sheer Sillyness of it all. This time around, I decided that AL should also get to draw the graphics, too...

Re: Developing Ramblings

Gah! Apple stuff is doing my blinkin' head in! I finished up the BlastTrax update about a week and a half ago, but every night as I go to compile it for iOS, I find yet another stupid little iOS7 based quirk, making my game break in unexpected ways. People oughta be really thankful for all the extra...

Re: Developing Ramblings

September's over, and it's time to head back to the regular AGameAWeek schedule. ... But first, a silly idea popped into my head, and I want to see how far I can get with it, before returning to the insanity of Every-Single-Week! http://socoder.net/uploads/1/sgr_ingame_3_thumb.png It's quite a depar...

Re: Poet's Corner

First I hit A And then I hit B. An alien creature is following me. I spin on an axis And fire my gun. The alien dies, and I think that I've won. But then from afar Comes a big giant face Which laughs as it violently eats up the place. I fire my weapon It causes no harm. The face has a shield up, and...

Re: Developing Ramblings

My Month-Off continues at a nice relaxing pace. BlastTrax is continuing to sell at a moderate rate of about 30-or-so a day, which isn't exactly "WOOHOO!!" but is at least something, and I should be glad of that. As I spend extra time bulking up BlastTrax, I'm finding myself wanting to star...

Re: Developing Ramblings

An enjoyable week, this week, as BlastTrax seems to continue getting rave reviews.. .. Not exactly translating into actual sales, but the hype's certainly there! 100 sales in a week. It's not AWESOME, but it's not my worst iOS game so far. AppAdvice , Cakeless Roses and 148Apps.com have all reviewed...

Re: Developing Ramblings

"Demo" time.. As this game got bulked up to a month-long-project status, it was inevitably going to bring commercial issues. Having given away Hoppy Bobby, then managed to do absolutely nothing with it that would warrant a "bigger, better, pay for edition" I've decided to switch ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Waffling Health Update I'm running out of places that I can privately rant like this. As family members begin to actually take note of my web-presence, there's not many quiet back-of-the-web places that I can post quiet little things like this. Not sure why I like posting these, here, but.. I do! Ap...

Re: Developing Ramblings

Meanwhile, here's this week's game. Variasaurs plays like the classic board game Mastermind. You place your pegs, then the opponent places theirs. White for 100% correct, Green for right colour- wrong place, and Black for not right at all. You need to decypher these clues to help guess the correct c...

Re: Developing Ramblings

You know what's really frustrating?
When you've made an awesome game, you really want people to play it, but you need to bloody well wait for Apple getting it through review-phase. Grrr!

Re: Which invention has benefitted mankind the most?

Bread, and/or any other baked goods. I can understand the majority of inventions.. Take part A, add to part B, Voila. Or even "We need a Part A!".. Tada! But quite how anyone came up with the concept of taking all the ingredients necessary for baking bread, and somehow magically turning it...

Re: Developing Ramblings

Extended chaos! Two weeks to go.. This is number 298, and it was extremely rapidly cobbled together within the space of a day! The reason, I've been focussing on a nice big #300 project. It started as a recent, but ended up a shooter!! Go figure!! It's a fantastic little game, and I'm having a whale...
