Funny you should say that. Apparently, in Italian, Pace means peace, and there is the Italian Peace flag:

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
For what it is worth, here are some transit headlines recently. Metra is in hot water right now, Pace is right behind them. $250,000 a year legal tab for Metra. Wonder what Pace's is? http://www.suntimes.com/21589400-761/taxpayers-legal-tab-for-metra-mess-adds-up-to-more-than-250k-so-far.html A bit ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Indeed. We've always managed to come out on top one way or the other.
Right now, feels like one chapter is closing, another is opening. We'll finally have something we've wanted for a long time: Peace.

Re: Why are you happy today?
Happy because we're getting ready to finally get the heck out of Illinois. Popped my left knee earlier, was quite painful, but almost nothing can drag this day down!

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
OR better yet, come to Illinois and experience it for yourself, which actually gives me the idea for an amusement park theme. Imagine, a roller coaster called "The political life", with the most exhilerating highs and deep lows, and scary twists and turns the whole way. Or a merry-go-round...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Everything is pretty well decided. We're moving to Wisconsin. Monday the landlord of our apartment rang the doorbell. I assumed he had issues, once again, with his cheapie wireless routers in the building. He tried to push me down, swung a piece of lumber at me, threatened to kill the three of us, p...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Not in particular. A number of old big band era 78s mention railroads, as rail was a popular form of transport at the time. But I do have a "Transport album" playlist on my laptop. We are still in rural Kentucky. Coming down we chaparoned a boy scout charter bus to the national jamboree, h...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I haven't been here much lately because we've been enjoying summer. Skoda likes the beach, she has lots of fun playing with sand. We also frequent outdoor concerts that several towns have in evenings. Then we still go to garage sales on weekends because sometimes very interesting stuff turns up. Cou...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Amazing. We had some storms here today, but nothing major. At one point it just let loose, coming down like a torrent, but for all of 20 minutes.
Been the kind of day we've stayed home. My back has hurt, and none of us wanted to be out and about if a storm hit anyway.

Re: Simutrans
I've been playing version 112.0 today, and I must say that Simtrans has really become a fun game, similar in concept still to Transport Tycoon, but with its own flavor. For example, you don't pick up passengers and take them just to the next stop, they have their own ideas on where they want to go. ...

Re: Why are you happy today?
Friend of ours was over today, when he came in, Skoda said his name "Bob" when she saw him. He's been over here often, also being into trains, so not only is this her first word, but also shows she picked up on his name by hearing us talk! That girl is going to be very smart and advanced f...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Fathers Day yesterday, Maria took me to a steak dinner, and gave me a freight car kit, with the note saying "From Skoda", of course. Very peaceful day. My left knee and back both hurt tonight, so can't sleep. Go figure too I got a nasty papercut on my right index fingertip, so typing is a ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
At the Pace union meeting tonight. Another driver was fired recently, from what I understand a passenger had been aggresively panhandling on the buses, seemed to target this particular driver's bus. Driver had the punk arrested three times, and the punk started whining to the garage about "Disc...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
There's no Canada like French Canada! Oh, and Montreal is known for Montreal Locomotive Works, the Canadian subsidiary of American Locomotive Company. They had some interesting Canadian-only builds that are still seen today. For many years there was a tariff that meant locomotives built in the USA c...

The first time I'd ever seen that picture, so not overused to me.
You don't mind that I made a small change to it, do you?

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Tomorrow (23rd, already in some parts of the world), is my birthday. Heading north for the rest of the week. Good way to spend the day! Set up a home theater system for someone today. Despite the lawsuit winnings, I still work. I took a couple weeks off initially, but grew bored and missed fixing PC...
