Re: The little Inn by the wayside

If there's one thing I've learned in this dull uneventful life, it's that there's a big difference between "crappy job" and "at least I can pay the bills". Nothing worse than throwing away the crappy job, then being stuck because there's nothing better available. Security first. Be sure you can get ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

So, um, how goes it, everyone? My Nan passed away on Monday. Not a great shock, as she's been in and out of hospital through most of the year, but still somewhat unexpected. She'd been fit as a fiddle over the past couple of weeks. Passed away Monday, but the funeral isn't going to be until next Fri...

Re: What Are You Listening To?

What am I listening to?? .. A few months ago, the guy next door started dating a new woman. Now, months later, she's moved in, and instead of the blissful silence we used to get whilst he was out at work all day, we now get stupidly loud, awfully terrible music, all smegging day, every smegging day....

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I have nothing against religions, or religious people, or even "religious nuts", as long as they don't try their damnedest to push/force their religion onto others. The second that garbage starts, all bets are off.

Re: Developing Ramblings

Got my first test running on Windows Mobile Phone Smartphone Compact 2014 8.1 Bing (or whatever it's called) today. Seemed relatively painless, but needed a few tweaks to get everything running smoothly. Will have to look into getting my apps up onto the store, next. I don't seem to be able to simpl...

"The large creatures must've allowed smaller lifeforms to live inside their mouths. Look, you can see that they've built the small creatures a railway of sorts. This gap in their teeth must've been used as the entrance."

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

It's a phpBB issue. I recently installed one myself, and have been going bonkers trying to keep them out!! There should be a google captcha option in the sign-up settings, along with "require email activation" and other such tweaks. Mine's now down to about three a week .. :/ Of course, if you ARE c...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

It'll be a shame to see it go. There's a lot of big changes happening in the world of freeware. Recent Windows editions are bombarding users with "OMG! this is UNSAFE!!" messages, and that's if the browser even manages to let the user download the bloomin' file in the first place. Grrr.. With huge l...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Not long at all, as long as you have a starting point. My dislike of Apple's insane number of required icons, made me create an Icon Resizer tool. Start by drawing a 512x512 icon, and it resizes it to the multitude of required icons, ready for iOS releases. After that, I started woking on Android ga...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I've been so bored, I started making odd little papercraft arcade machines!! http://socoder.net/uploads/1/image-30-07-14-06-43-54_thumb.jpg Want your own? You can find the printer ready images under the "bonus assets" in these games ...because that's just how bored I get, when I'm not focused on AGa...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

*pokes head in* Hi, sorry, haven't visited for a while. I bought a smartphone for the camera, too, except I went a bit nutso with my purchase. Bought a Lumia 1020 with a 41 megapixel camera, since I don't actually own a "proper" camera, and figured I might as well go for something that does both job...

Re: Developing Ramblings

Finished JNKBombers, and folk seem to enjoy it.
The game is, of course, infinitely better when played with others, but there's a somewhat shabby AI in there if you're sad and lonely like me!

Re: Developing Ramblings

This month, in a change from my usual Weekly Schedule, I've decided to create a nice Bomberman clone. So far so good, but loads more to add to the thing, and a long long way to go. The game currently looks a little bit like this... http://socoder.net/uploads/1/JNKBombers_007_thumb.png .. but will ob...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I've learned that writing isn't for me. Writing games, maybe, but general everyday writing. Not so much. My odd method of adding far too much punctuation, terribly formatted none-paragraphs, and other grammar issues are one thing.. But then.. Then you get to my habit of swearing and ranting, and gen...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Sorry.. Had nothing interesting going on, really.. AGameAWeek continues on, in an uneventful way. Coding is going smoothly, games are looking great, but nothing substantial is happening. It's just generally running it's course. Health is similar, in that I'm still off-balance, and too much movement ...

Re: Developing Ramblings

Seems like years since I last posted a Dev-Update.. In reality, it's not been that long at all, but I have been busying away coding somewhat larger games, recently. This week, I've decided to take a break. It IS Easter weekend, after all, and if there's any reason for taking a break, a national holi...

I'm crap at anything electrical, and generally in awe of anyone who can fumble a few bits of wire to make magical things happen!!

Re: Links to freeware games sites and games indexes

Would like to recommend GameJolt.com. They allow users to upload their own games, so it's more freeform and not always great!! For every awesome game, there's 100 "My First Game!" type things. Nnngh. But they've stipulated a 100% freeware rule, and every so often there's a great game that crops up a...
