Re: How to buy SEO services from professional agencies?

I'm curious if it's really worth the effort in 2023 to attempt spam phpbb boards with seo spam. At least it's not AI spam.

Re: Changes. Changes never change.

I recently noticed that this site's email settings were ancient, which among other things meant that no one could really activate their account - not even the spambots. That should not be fixed, although I'm quite certain 99% of new accounts were just spambots.

Re: Why are rpg games so stupid?

I think this leveling goes all the way back to original D&D. The difference however is that in early D&D role playing, the players do start as every man who are young/stupid/unskilled/untrained. However, this breaks down especially badly in modern computer rpg games where the player starts o...

Re: First unofficial OG/Blackdiam/CWF meeting report

Now that I remember, here's a strange story for Railwaymodeler... totally derailing this thread off-topic but whatever. This summer I was for first time at my spouse's family's summer place. Long story short, someone in the family had at some point in time sold their summer place to local businessma...

Re: Is Windows XP the best OS ever made

You're right, a lot of interesting stuff happened during Windows XP. Wifi, USB, Bluetooth, Internet Explorer 6, and MSN Messenger started to really become things with Windows XP. It's the operating system of the dotcom bubble. Oh, and its gradients and colors had a lasting impact on the world. One c...

Re: Gaming culture and politics

I would say that modern gaming is less and less a "male thing". Of course, some people see this as a threat and start to defend it as a male dominion. There's this nice presentation how game developers are responsible for peddling a male power fantasy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY90s...

Re: Changes. Changes never change.

I've been thinking of starting a Discord server and seeing if I can get as many people as I can from the old OG crew to join. It's just a matter of overcoming my own inertia.

Changes. Changes never change.

Hello.

If you're reading this, then we have safely arrived to a yet another new era of Curly's World. You should not notice anything changing.

If you do, please let me know.

Afair CWF at its peak (which was also the beginning of its demise) covered 350 to 450 games (correct me)

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Merry Christmas to everyone who still occasionally ends up on this forum. I spent a week recently in Washington DC and I was surprised how many model trains there were in public. The National Christmas Tree was surrounded by them and at US Botanical Gardens they had built tracks around the plants . ...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

Forums are still a very used medium as long as it has a topic to be centered around (a game, a hobby and such). Yeah, but I think they are now very much consolidated. You talk about games, you go to Neogaf/resetera, you talk about board games you got BGG... the age of small boards is pretty much go...

Half-Life turns 20 years this year. Your screenshot also reminds me that I never played the Laura Bow games...

I think Igor refers to the Igor: Project Uikokahonia? I never played the full game, or... maybe I did, I can't remember.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

The BBS had a good run, the phpBB boards had a good run, but now that the Internet blew large the people who posted on forums have moevd to closed communities while everyone else went to more public social media sites. Yeah, this forum created a group of friends but in the current climate, can a for...
