Hey guys, sorry to resurrect a dead topic but I just wanted to say that Hasslevania has been mentioned in Game for Windows magazine #15 (Feb. 2008). I'm planning on getting one tonight so I can see for myself. It also made 1up.com's list of 101 best free games of 2007, but there were probably like 1...

Yeah, I think I may have used a wee bit too much original NES Metroid for influence, as far as not really saying where anything is or where to go next. Most people do tend to think that if you can force your way through the first part of the game, it does get easier and more fun. Thank you for the v...

This is one of my favorite games. Everywhere I find it, I make sure to say as much :)

Very, very good but challenging too, especially towards the end. The whole block idea is a good one.

I really like to blab and carry on and on, just to warn you. :) I'll cooperate with you guys for Hasslevania for whatever you need, short of the source code, sprite sheets, and the rights for the thing. I'm trying to go "on tour" with it a bit, like a band that just put out a new record an...

Thanks Peter, that's cool you're giving it a good shot! Don't worry about Hasslevania's limitations (as far as 2 hearts / h jump and limited save points). I'm busy designing the sequel which should hopefully blow the doors off of the original if all goes well. :) One thing for example will be that a...

^^ Yeah, but I can win Hasslevania :D ^^

I always played ED with a gamepad but thought that the controls were tight. I'm sure I'll go back and play it again sometime, if only to get that first dagger subweapon (which rules) from that big plant thing.

This was actually THE game that made me decide to spend $99 on MMF1.5. That being said, it's way too hard. The enemies damage you for too much, your life bar is too low, and worst of all your attack range is pitiful. It looks great, and sounds better, and the engine is solid, but there are a lot of ...

Well, you can never be too sure. I had some people who never played any Castlevania wonder why they were dying when they still had tons of hearts left. I guess it's pretty strange how CV is the only game I know offhand whose hearts have nothing to do with recovering life (like every other game does)...

You only have 1 life for Rovert. The hearts are used for skills like high jumps, the holy crap subweapon, and summoning the devil for hire. Think of them like MP in some other games. The thing you're most concerned with is the orange life bar up in the left-hand corner of the screen. Once it's gone,...

The other admin was Rikus from the Daily Click, and I'm glad that was the problem! I tried out Soldexus and I don't think Hasslevania is harder. I mean, this one purple monster with a lance hit me and killed my guy in a single shot. There also was kind of a whole lot of empty rooms for a long time a...

Wow, weird that 2 admins from 2 different websites both had the same problem.

Thankfully it's easily solved!

You're running out of skill hearts, that's why. Each high jump costs 2 skill hearts to do. Smash some candles and you'll be golden :)

It sure is! Okay, the new Hasslevania Version 2 has been successfully added to the mirrors and is ready to go! Changes: ------------ New game mode, "Wussy Schoolgirl", that replaces the original "Vanilla" from Version 1. Specially designed to help new players, Rovert will now act...

Guys, I hate to say it but there's been a bug that's been discovered that I have to fix right away. I'm going to be making the Version 2 Hasslevania and uploading it for the public hopefully as early as sometime tomorrow. The bug is very far into the game, during the 2nd encounter with Me Sued Ya in...

Yep, I agree if there's one thing I would change is I'd make some sort of flowing grass near that ceiling hole. I don't mind if people get stumped but so early on- it wasn't really fair to expect people to figure out something like that so soon. About the game's speed (Rovert's walking speed mostly)...

No problem, I've seriously answered almost 10 e-mails all about that first snag already counting today.

I will be glad to answer any questions you have, and thanks for actually requesting permission to use images from my site. Now only if everyone would follow suit!

Thanks for showcasing my game that's awesome! But I'd suggest that to get people in to eat you show 'em some turkey n' pie instead of the bread n' peas: [img]http://del_duio....
